The upgrade is totally justified, imo. It's a better purchase than what I got. I got the model with the 64mb X-ram, which is supported by a grand total of 2 games.

I noticed that everything sounded better when I switched from the Audigy 2 to X-fi. Even poor quality youtube clips sounded clearer. I would recommend Bioshock if you want to hear a huge difference from the Audigy 2. The only drawback is the Creative patented pop, snap & crackle but I get them far less often with the X-fi.

Remember to download Alchemy for vista. It's necessary for conversion of EAX to Open-Al since Vista doesn't support EAX directly.

ah that sounds like a lot of work to install the demo that came with it. I DID try it with WoW and got about 7-10 more fps and the sounds better.

Woah, that's a pretty impressive framerate increase for a soundcard upgrade. Guess Prole was right. It didn't seem to do as much for my system though. Maybe my PC has excess processor cycles or something.

Well, 550 is not enough for 2 x 8800 GTX. Maybe I should have waited for Nvidia's newer, more power efficient videocards so that I didn't need such a beefy power supply.

But at least I'm all set for triple SLI, amirite?
