Does anyone know about astrology?

Norma Desmond's obsession with it had me pulling up information on Wikipedia, and I'm basically confused.

I was born on January 14th, and my whole life, I thought that was cleanly Capricorn, but under certain reckoning, it appears that I might be a Sagittarius.  I basically need the forum to tell me what the fuck I am.  I'd prefer to be the sign that gets better hallucinations when consuming psychoactive substances, if that is possible.  And also the less gay one.

the difference is comparing the tropical date and the sidereal date. sidereal astrology is practiced by a very small minority around the world. when you ask someone their sign, 99.9 percent of the time they give it to you according to the tropical date, which are the most known definitions to the sign.

classical zodiac astrology follows the rules of the equinox rather than the position of the actual constellations themselves. sidereal ties the constellations and the position of the sun to the actual star sign.

for example, that is why some people know their "sun sign."

i.e. my birthdate is july 9. i am cancer, sun in gemini. my sidereal sign is gemini.

for you, january 14, you are capricorn, sun in sagittarius. your sidereal sign is sagittarius.

in rare cases the sun sign and the sidereal sign can be different, but not usually.
