a response to lyte edge saying this generation of games sucks:
basically what you are watching is the result of vulturous, corporate businessmen that are in this to make money, and as a result are screwing up things with thier uncalculated, short-sighted decisions. there are not enough gamers in the creative portion of the industry, which is why so much sucks and so much is clearly designed to make money to keep the company afloat. unfortunately most gamers are not adjusted to fit within society, let alone a business, and therefore screw themselves out of being able to contribute. i mean really, who wants to hear a ranting fanboy at work, or someone being completely unreasonable about wanting some game that no one cares about (*cough* samurai showdown series *cough*)?
the whole thing is going to shit like the movie industry.
does anyone remember what saved movies?
that would be indie films. those are still the best movies with the best stories and cinematography. though some of the indie sector has started to go mainstream - a point that is both paradoxical and drawn out and i don't want to get into now - indie films have survived a great deal of bullshit and the test of time and make it difficult to say, "all movies suck."
do you think the same would happen with games? small designers that make outstanding games from out of nowhere, beating out the final fantasys and MGSs of the industry?
what do you guys think?
