November shall now be known as James Bond Month.
« on: November 01, 2006, 12:28:50 PM »
I'm going to attempt to pull myself out of post-Halloween depression by watching every James Bond movie this month.  It seems like the perfect time:  the last few 007 movies have been released in November (except for Tomorrow Never Dies - but that was December), and AMC or TBS or whoever usually run their Bond marathons in Nov. as well.

So, I'm going to start by watching Dr. No today.  I have maybe 2/5 of the movies on DVD already, so I'm going to use Netflix to see the rest.

Anyone else want to participate in this challenge?

I might try.  I want to ramp myself up for Casino Royale, which CrystalGemini and I are definitely seeing opening weekend.

Casino Royale will be the best Bond film since Connery. Fact. I want to get those new boxsets but I doubt I will before Royale.

Any idea on when those marathons will be?

It has been an X-mas holiday tradition of mine for years. And before the DVD sets I did it with the VHS sets, and before the VHS sets, I did it with the "30 Days Of 007" fuckawesome marathon TBS used to run. I was sad when they lost the rights for the Bond films.

Also, The Living Daylights is the best Bond film since the Connery days. If Casino Royale can match or best it, I will be happy.

EDIT: so I decline this challenge, for the reasons that its not a huge challenge for a Bond fan, and that I know I'll do it anyways in mid-December.
Also, if youre a purist, avoid the new DVD sets.

I might get into this.  I don't actually own any Bond flicks :'( but I know someone who does and lets me borrow his shit for long periods of time.  When I got back from class, I found this urge to watch Band of Brothers again.  I don't know why, it's not even really a vet time of year, but I wanted to watch the series again.

I guess I can do Bond instead of Winters, though.
