2008 exclusives: PS3 vs. 360

Being totally objective, PS3's exclusives in 2008 absolutely slaughter 360's.  What are your thoughts on this?  I'll make a list for both, in chronological order..

MLB '08: The Show - March 4th, the best baseball game ever created
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds - March 18th, one of the best sports franchises in existence
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - April 17th
Haze - May 20th, Free Radical
Metal Gear Solid 4 - June 12th
Echochrome - mid 2008, level editor and ability to share your levels
SOCOM: Confrontation - mid 2008, Summer months
WipEout HD - mid 2008, can't be understated how great this is going to be
Valkyria Chronicles - mid 2008, Summer months... that amazing looking Sega RPG strategy game
Disgaea 3 - August
Killzone 2 - September, Guerrilla will deliver.  Already have on the visual front... absolutely destroying the competition.  This is not Killzone 1 all over again.  The original Killzone team is a fraction of the total team working on KZ2.  It's like a 200 person project, compared to 50 for KZ1.  Sony realizes what's at stake here, both financially and symbolically for the PS3. They understand that this game must be good.  They've moved people from their Cambridge studios over to help.  The development for this title has barely anything in common with the original Killzone.
LittleBigPlanet - September, and possibly GOTY
Heavy Rain - October, makers of Indigo Prophecy
Resistance 2 - November, 60 player online, 8 player online co-op, 2 campaigns, etc
Motorstorm 2 - 2008, probably December
Infamous - 2008, PS3's Crackdown

It's not even close.  Why are you guys anti-PS3?  Do you not see the massive tidal wave that's approaching?  The writings on the wall.  2008's gonna be a bloodbath.  How can you not see this?  Look at those two lists.  Try to be objective about them.  This is an absolute massacre.  If you don't cop a PS3 within the next few months, you're going to be missing out.

re: Xbox Live vs. PSN
In-game XMB is confirmed and Home is launching in 2-3 months as well.  Once that happens, Xbox Live will be officially neutered.  Forget Home for a minute.  All PSN needs is in-game XMB access and it'll have matched Xbox Live, feature for feature, and for free.  Home actually sounds promising, btw: link.  I'm still not sold on it, though.  It's kind of gay.. not the MMO-type.

yeah, please, I dunno who this new guy is, but this isn't how we work here. we slag off on a bunch of systems (including the 360, when it deserves it) and we're entirely sarcastic and spiteful, but at the end of the day we're all about games and we don't allow discussion of lists, sales, system wars, etc.

ps3 has a good line up this year but I'm sure 360 will have some games coming out. PS3's got MGS4, Valkyrie, Heavy Rain, and Infamous.

This year I'm looking forward to more portable games than console games.

I thought this was a legitimate topic of discussion.  Exclusives are important.  I spent a solid 12 minutes typing it up.

All I see on the PS3 are series that have gone on for too long (MGS4, GT5, Socom), sequels to games that no one cared about (Killzone, Resistance, Motorstorm), bunch of niche games (Hot Shots Golf, LBP, ECTOCHROME).  Looks like another year of hype and disappointment for the PS3.

I ignored all PSN as well, except for Echochrome, which is also releasing for PSP.

Resistance released in 2006, btw. Also, Uncharted was awesome, as was Stardust.  Why "!" them?  LBP, Haze, Home... none of those have been released yet, either.

I have absolutely no interest in MGS4, and MGS3 wasn't the seller MGS2 was if we must talk about sales. Gears 2 stomps it into the ground in sales anyway if that's what's important to you.

I included Resistance because it's part of PS3's first year whoamg extravaganza (a talking point that mysteriously died out around last October). Several of those games were awesome, and several of PS3's 2008 games will be awesome - but not all of them. I'll wait and see when the games come out instead of trying to carve through the PR dust storm.

Haze - this is gonna be a huge turd, but i beat Lair, so i'll entertain myself
Metal Gear Solid 4 - i hated MGS3, so i'll see what happens with this
Echochrome - this is coming to PSP anyway, no need for a PS3
Valkyria Chronicles - will wait to see how this plays, but i am interested
Disgaea 3 - i dunno why i have this listed, i have Disgaea on PSP and i cant get into it, and i doubt Disgaea 3 will make things any different
Killzone 2 - got nothing to say about this, it's either put up or shut up
LittleBigPlanet - is this PSN only? does it have a single player? i am not interested in playing with other people
Heavy Rain - indigo prophecy was sweet, so i'm interested in this, but we know... nothing about it?
Resistance 2 - this looks to be a huge improvement over the boring first one
Infamous - we know nothing about this, but if it's like Crackdown then i should expect to beat it within 2 days and take it back





Like I said before in the other thread, this place is mostly xbox-centric, so you are going to get trolling, especially with your lists, but despite what people say, you can and will expect threads on at least all of those games listed in your first post. We even played Folklore. I think I'm the only guy who actually beat it, though. So if you get riled up, don't say I didn't warn you.

As far as exclusives go, I'm really only interested in LBP and Infamous.....and on the 360 all I want is Banjo and Too Human.  IMO, the most interesting stuff comin' out this year is all multiplatform.
