so my hot water tank is an ancient piece of shit from 1989 and the bottom finally rusted out of it. i went to home despot and bought a sexy sexy 80 gallon tank with all kinda tree hugger shit built in and most importantly the ability to superheat my showers instantly so i can pass out from scald wounds. question to you manly men: is it fucking easy to install one of these bitches, or should i pay $70 and have a messican install it, and risk him stealing my pstriple in the process?

hire someone to do it, you are white and nerdy, there's no way you could do it yourself

i'll do it myself if it doesn't require anything beyond a wrench and a caulking gun. if it requires i measure shit and buy pvc pipe and fuck around with the plumbing in detail, i'll hire one of ichi's people at $3.50/hr to do it.

it will require copper or pvc and glue and a hack saw. Go for the glue, then you can spell like me.

you're looking at the possibility of replacing connectors, soldering joints, etc.

it isn't the water heater, once you drain that and disconnect it it's easy to move - it's the pipes and connectors, and there is almost always going to be some replacement involved

plumbing is easily one of the worst things to do yourself in the home. Unless it's something simple, then i won't fuck with it.

starting soon, i'll be laying tiles, replacing some cabinets and painting my mom and her boyfriends house. working like a true mexican

Take it from me, plumbing sucks ass. The only things I will do myself are changing basins/faucets in sinks or replacing the hardware inside toilets.

I tried to mount a new toilet one time and didn't "seal" it properly. Four days later, a slow leak finally seeped through the drywall below it. Additional cost = 95 dollars. So much for saving money.

70 bucks is a great price to have it done. When we remodeled my basement, I had to pay 120 dollars to someone just to move mine about 3 feet.
