Just booked a hotel for two nights (fri and sat.) downtown Seattle and now I am looking for places to go. Good food, good bars, and also some touristy things. Still thinking of hitting up the beer fest there on the 22 too.

Touristy stuff? Have you been to Seattle before? There's the givens, like the Pike Place Market, Space Needle, SAM Sculpture Garden, Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, Golden Gardens, Alki Beach, Greenlake (I live nearby!), etc.

Downtown Seattle is not the happening place, by the way. The neighborhoods of Capitol Hill, Ballard and Fremont are really cool to walk around.

Would you be willing/able to leave the city? You should really think about visiting Mt. Rainier National Park if you'll have access to a car.

Hit up Feierabend for some awesome German beer and food:
http://www.feierabendseattle.com/

Ivars on the waterfront is great for fish and chips, as is Spud down on Alki and in Greenlake. Gallerias in Capitol Hill is really good if you're up for some Nuevo-Mexican food.

Do you like music? Easy Street Records in Queen Anne (near the Space Needle) is awesome.

Do you like games? Pink Godzilla Games is a fun Japanese game store in the International District.

Give me some ideas of what kinds of food you like, and also how much you're willing to spend, and my wife and I will make some more recommendations.

Go watch the Supersonics.  This is likely their last year in Seattle.  :'(

The city is not going to let them out of their lease early, they'll be here another year or two.

This is my first time to Seattle. I figured that unlike Phoenix, downtown would be where it was at  :(. I will have my car though since I'm driving over (Spokane).

I am on a pretty tight budget, I figured that i would mainly walk around, see the sights, snap a few pictures and hit up some bars. Probably not going to frequent too many fancy restaurants unless I'm with some one. I don't like doing that alone... I'm trying to get people to come with but it's like pulling teeth over here.

Some great Mexican food would be very appreciated. Also, I'm looking for a good sushi place, I figure Seattle ought to have some. Also, if there is a breakfast place that simply can't be missed I might have to check it out.

This is my favorite sushi place in Seattle:

http://www.ototosushi.com/

Also:

http://www.shiki-sushi.com/

I've never eaten at Shiki, but they're the only place in the state whose chef is licensed to serve fugu (poisonous blowfish)

As for good traditional American-stereotypical Mexican food:

Rosita's is right by my house, we go there all the time.

For breakfast, you should check out:

Beth's Cafe in Greenalke:

TVC, let me know when you're moving, I'll snag my parents' truck for hauling stuff.

If you moved to Greenlake, that would be insanely awesome. My wife really wants to meet this magical "Keith" person from the internets.

Is it possible that exposure to my giant TV might make your wife reconsider her anti-giant sex TV stance?

Probably not. A few of our friends have gigantic HDTVs, it's not helping any.  :lol

Tauntaun's rules for getting a sexy new HDTV while married:

Just piss on the TV so it breaks, either that or dutch oven her into submission.

We can afford the TV, but we don't make any big purchases without discussing it with each other first.

However, her parents are coming to stay with us over Memorial Day, and my father-in-law always backs me up on getting another HDTV. If anyone can convince her, it's him. We need HD in the bedroom, dammit!

This is why people should never get married.  If I got married, what are the chances my other would allow me to get a 40D?

The U-District is where I live. For a while I thought it was Northgate... but I guess not. There are thousands of disoriented drunken hobos wandering the streets.

The sound is awfully amusing.
