Did you really think it would retail for anything less?

I get my HD DVD fix and a free copy of King Kong in HD so I'm happy.

Bluray hasn't been  working as well.

I get it on the 7th.  I thought the official King Kong DVD didn't launch until the 14th.  Kinda weird that that they're launching the player and movie first.

So far, would you say it's worth it for movies to be in HD?

Well, since I don't have it yet, I can't say for this player.  But I have seen an HD DVD player running on my TV and it's gorgeous.  For 200 extra bucks, it's an awesome solution for anyone who already has a 360.

Heroes is pretty great, but it's got some bad dialogue that's outweighed by a good characters and fun comic book storyline.  I like Jeph Loeb as much as the next guy, but it's obvious he's not cut out to write lines that come out of actual humans' mouths.

Jeph Loeb writes comic books, so it's something you'd read in a copy of Batman or whatever the hell he's writing nowadays.

Oh god the dialogue in Heroes is HORRIBLE. The show is so much fun I don't mind it though. But it has worse dialogue than the star wars prequels.

Yeah, this is a show that wears its heart on its sleeve.  You can tell everyone likes doing it - and there's really nothing like it on TV.

They just need to clean up that dialogue and then it'll poop on everything in its time slot.

I think what's funny is Cheebs said it's as bad as Star Wars prequels, and although I wouldn't go that far, it can be eye rolling at times.  That said, it gets away with hokey lines because it does something the Star Wars prequels forgot to do (and the originals did do) - it doesn't take itself seriously.

If they improve the writing the show would be unstoppable. But it is such a fun comic booky tv show that I honesty don't mind the writing.

I have no digital camera, but here is a pic a guy took on GAF.  Plenty of people on AVS and on GAF have said that they can't tell the difference between a standalone through HDMI and the add on through component.  Bodes well for HD DVD and the add on itself.

Yeah, it's pretty big.  When they 360 is horizontal, it's about half it's width and just as long as the 360.  Plus it has a power brick that's about 3 or 4 inches long.

I'll get both consoles too eventually. And that's why I'm not getting this add-on.

One HD-player is enough. Ps3, that is.

If HD-DVD succeeds, I'll buy the add-on. Or even better...a standalone player.

The visual difference between component (or VGA) and HDMI/DVI is significant and very well worth it. Especially if the TV has to upscale to a 1080p set, it creates less upscaling artefacts. And the signal is clearer and sharper.

I've read recently on OA that MS could very well announce a HDMI cable for the Xbox 360 on November 22 though. That would be great.

That would be great.  But as it stands, many people have said that the differences between their standalone players through HDMI and their 360 with component at 1080i being deinterlaced and upscaled by the tv is not visible.  No one has said otherwise either.  The general consensus is that the PQ is gorgeous.

On another note though, I think there is some faulty software though.  A lot of people said it was upscaling their dvd's via component.  Last night I threw in Lord of War and my TV said the incoming signal was 720p.  I threw in LOTR and it said it was 480p.  Lord of War did not look upscaled though.  I think it's just a fault with the software.
