Sins of a Solar Empire: I like it more than GalCiv II
« on: March 15, 2008, 03:59:06 AM »
I guess I was more harsh on the game before, but it's really not as overcomplicated as I made it seem before.  Yes, it's a leisurely paced RTS with an extra layer of strategy or so, but the game makes it pretty easy to manage your empire, unlike the similarly insanely-scaled Supreme Commander.

I'm changing my recommendation to BUY.  My only complaint is that you can only use one game mod at a time.

I think I just mentioned it before.  I definitely didn't make a thread.

Approximately how many units are you managing when you're ready to fight?  Are the graphics pretty good?  I know the game runs well on most sytems so I wasn't expecting much visually.

You really don't have to manage units yourself once you set up their AI parameters, though you can micromanage if you want.  I really haven't done anything aside from the tutorials and a small skirmish, so I really don't know what is typical.

The graphics are actually very nice.  They might not be the most technically proficient visuals ever, but similar to SupCom, they are impressive when scale is taken into account.  Unlike SupCom, though, this came doesn't make it seem like your PC is about to explode.

Some ass raping if you come online and play.

The AI by itself is freaking hard as hell, and god help if the pirates fuck you over. I love the game and play it a lot, but damn is it hard.
