I was just an ignorant teenager when the PS1 came out so the unit I first bought (actually a present from my dad for getting on the honor roll) died on me.  That's when I swore to never again buy defective hardware.

I take good care of my stuff, but have had hardware from all the different manufacturers break down on me at some point or another.  It happens.  I'm thinking of selling my 360 off when I move this summer and buying a new one after I get settled in...just seems like the thing is going to break down when it gets packed up and moved.

Microsoft took that ball and ran with it, to another level entirely.  The 360 is the only hardware I can think of that people buy with the expectation it will break down within a year.      :'(

I've never sent back my 360. I bought one, the disc drive was shoddy, I had it replaced at BestBuy in-store at no cost and kept my hard drive. That was 40 minutes of anguish, let me tell you.

The disc damage was so minor that it took like 4 months for me to notice the marks. I did it to be safe. 0 issues with replacement.


I've always kept my 360 in totally open air, on top of an entertainment center or on a desk or what have you, never enclosed.

Sony said 'hey things break' for years, MS offered a 1 year and then a 3 year warranty.

Why did I buy another PS2? Why buy a PS3 when the second PS2 got flimsy? This is what we do if we actually enjoy the hobby.
