Metal Gear: Infuriating

this is a pretty piss-poor control scheme

i'm forever flipping dudes over my shoulder when i just want to strangle them

plus all the creepy sexual wink-wink dialogue with snake and that drinky-drinky girl you have to talk to to save your game (people on the gaf post about how sexy the vo actor is and my mouth just fills with vomit)

i'm going back to my theory that japanese people don't like to play games so much as be punished by them

looks like i'm 0 for 2 on the video game front this week

you've got to approach the soldiers without making any noises and grab them from their back to strangle them. it's been a while since i played it, but i don't remember either complaint being an issue. you can always skip the dialogue too.

mgs1 handles pretty badly in comparison to the later games. i remember trying to play it after mgs2 and really struggling with it. the button layouts stay fussy, but maybe try the ps2 games before you write the series off

ha, i'm just pissed at my own impatience is all, i don't intend to write it off that quickly

actually, i like the storyline so far, i can just do without the sexual innuendo (that sort of stuff in video games kinda makes my skin crawl)

i guess i just have to get used to it

it's pretty impressive for a ps1 game, i want to stick it out and see what happens

Eel, just stop trying to be stealthy and you'll have much more fun.

It that such a big of a deal, Himuro?

It's obvious he's talking about MGS1 from his first post.

i couldn't get into any of the mgs games

i tried repeatedly.  even playing twin snakes (whose story i loved more than the originals).

but it just wasn't for me

i'll play the fuck out of some mga and mga2.

yeah, the games controls are frustrating as hell, but I think it's worth it.  back when it came out, I didn't have any problems with the controls because the game was still so far ahead of everything.
