All these ramps going in all these directions better mean it's going back to the Genesis roots, with tons of paths through a level. If all that shit is a backdrop for Dreamcast gameplay, or worse, Wii gameplay, it's going to suck major ass.

Corrected after getting new info.

New info from the Sonic Stadium forums:

+ The game shares elements with SatSR (whether it's on rails is still not known). 360/PS3 (Wii unconfirmed lol).
+ All the levels have ~~brief~~ 2.5D platforming ~~bits~~.
+ Seems like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are the only playable characters.
- Sonic turns into a werewolf in the evening stages. Werewolf has different gameplay mechanics.

You misunderstood me. I was stating the known criticisms of the original Genesis games. I loved those games to death and they were among my favorite experiences in the 16 bit era. Mark Macdonald, formerly of EGM/1up was known for his hatred of the Sonic series would always mention that he just though Sonic was just about watching Sonic run through levels. I personally do not agree. The series peaked at Sonic 3 and Knuckles, which had extensive platforming.

Yeah I miss the Genesis Sonic style of music... reminded me a lot of some of the early 90's R&B/pop stuff with some house and techno thrown in there, and just some classic video game chiptune sounds. Because it gets pretty tiring being pessimistic all the time. I for one, would love to play a Sonic game with 3D graphics that doesn't suck. I'll be honest, chances are that Sega is going to fuck me over once again, but I don't think I'll hurt anyone by being a little cautious and optimistic about the title.
