I would never expect people to cater to me in a foreign country. I don't speak anything but English, and that's honestly my main issue with traveling. I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and never got anything below an A, but I'm lucky if I can ask you where the bathroom is. I'd be embarrassed abuot my ignorance in another country since I only speak English.
James is going to Germany this summer, and if I really tried I could probably get the money to go along, but I speak no German.

Yes to all of them. I like dogs the best though. Fish are boring pets, I don't know if you can even call them pets but I wouldn't oppose them as long as you took care of the tank.

There's a difference between visiting and taking residence in a place though.
While I don't believe there should be an official language and I don't think they must learn how to speak English to be a citizen or anything like that, I don't want to hear about it when someone can't understand you. And I think that if I chose to live somewhere else, I'd probably learn the most commonly spoken language of that place. They shouldn't HAVE TO learn English and we shouldn't HAVE TO bend over backwards for them. Both sides are being extremely arrogant and uncompromising.
I know tons of hispanics here that seem to think that just because they moved here, it should automatically become little Mexico. Er, sorry.
