i don't use q tips. you shouldn't clean further than your finger can reach. while in the shower, just use your finger to clean.

if it's really bad, you'll have to have your ear canals irrigated

Did you try using a q-tip to remove the excess wax out?

I usually don't use q-tips since my ears don't build up a lot of wax. Using a tissue after showering usually does the trick for me.

Taking a shower gets rid of lots of wax due to the water entering your ear. Other than that uhhh q-tips? Everyone and then I pull out a booger of wax but my ears have never been clogged wtf

I don't use q tips because I heard they did more harm than good.

I had a very serious ear infection almost 2 years ago and my ears cant handle in-ear phones anymore since then. I can listen to loud music on speakers perfectly. But those phontophia earphones do something inside my ear, so that it swolls up or something. Right now it feels like there is a pool of water trapped in my ear. And it has nothing to do with hygiene. I clean them every day.

Okay, don't panic. There are many things that could be going on.

First, you could have swimmer's ear. Do you submerge your head in water often or participate in any activities that involve swimming? When you swim, pressure from being underwater will push all the wax in your ear canal up against your eardrum, which causes temporary deafness.

Second, you use cotton swabs to clean your ears. Do NOT and I repeat, DO NOT stick those things in your ears, it also pushes wax against the eardrum. It makes sense to stick them in, but you're not supposed to. Inner-ear wax actually falls out by itself believe it or not, and cotton swabs were actually made to clean the curves on the outside of your ears, because those harbor lots of wax.

So how do you fix it? Go to a doctor and ask for ear drops. It's liquid that you just trickle into your ear canal and it dissolves the wax that you've probably impacted against your eardrum.

You couldn't be more incorrect. Just like people who say water is good to moisten dry skin. WRONG.

EDIT: And before my methods and knowledge are questioned, I've had around 15 ear infections, half of those left me temporarily deaf, others left me in so much pain I threw convulsions. Do not put cotton swabs in your ears, ever.

They really are, man. I've had like 5 different doctors tell me that. It's so tempting, but you're just not supposed to. Ever since I stopped though I get big gobs of earwax that just pop out of my ear at random times like every month. It's unnerving, but it's better than suffering partial deafness.

Sounds like an allergic reaction, but since that's unlikely I'd assume you just have a really sensitive ear canal, to both touch and vibration.

I don't really have a problem with earwax. And like I said, I don't really know what the cause is this time. But it feels like there is something big trapped inside my left air. Yesterday it was only a little bit, today I wake up and it's completely clogged. I really want to know what could have caused this to happen overnight. It can't be 'earwax'.

However, I also have normal earphones (stock CHEAP-ASS earphones from Sony Ericsson phone) and I dont have any problem with those. It seems high quality in-ear phones with good bass causes my ears to swell up.

Yeah don't use those. A set of headphones (the ones that cover your ear) could produce better bass if you buy the right kind and you don't have to suffer losing your ear virginity.

meanwhile I have no problem with cranking my speakers up to full bass and volume and listen for hours. I wonder what the fuck is up with that.

raban's got it. most doctors will tell you to use the child safe q tips or don't use them at all. bad bad bad. little pieces of cotton get stuck to the insides of your ear which causes huge wax buildup overtime and requires an inner ear canal irrigation which trust me, hurts like a fucking bitch.

do not clean any further than your finger can reach.

Uuhh dude, I already said I'm gonna go to the doctor first thing in the morning. And besides, what does embarassment have to do with it? During the time when I had the infection I visited my doctor several times and also took 3 visits to the hospital. Doctors don't know shit, never did. I mean I can't even remember the answer they gave me for what caused the infection. It's because they didn't give me one.

And I asked so many questions to the eardoctor at the hospital that he got really annoyed by it lol. He was a taco anyway.

Go to the doctor and they'll pour some stuff in your ear and it will loosen it all out so it can come out. It feels sooooooo good too. Like someone's jizzing in your ear, except it's cold and not warm.

I used a set of drops called Waxsol or something. Put some drops in my ear for a few days, block them with cotton wool overnight so the drops dont fall out, and within days the wax is gone.

This happened to me before. I went to an ear/nose/throat specialist and he used a little vacuum thing to suck all the earwax out. He said my ear canal had a sharp turn in it, and then it let earwax build up down in there. He recommended that that I use hydrogen peroxide mixed with water, to flush it out every once in a while. Once every few weeks I pour a few drops into my ear, let it set for a minute or so, then flush it out with one of those ear bulbs. The stuff that comes out is pretty gross. $:-\$
