I so <3 Veronica Mars. And Kristen Bell is so insanely hot. Why is everything she's in that's not VM so terrible?

I watched about 2/3rds of the first season of Deadwood. Cream dream production values and occasionally decent (but more frequently overwrought) dialogue with a meandering, thought-up-as-they-went-along plot aren't my idea of a good show. I've tried to make it through twice, but it just gets too boring.

Alternatively, you could set up shop as a P.I. and snoop on cheating spouses.

Speaking of detectives I'm reading The Big Sleep right now. Damn it sure deals with some graphic topics for an older novel. Porn and homosex oh my!

It's the type of book I have to read carefully. On more than a few occasions I've had to re-read paragraphs to get what's going on lol. Like, the car chases, which are often sprawling affairs

I like how the book really feels like it's from the perspective of an actual detective. The writing is extremely detailed and lively, which is the way an actual detective would view things.

btw have you seen the film adaption of The Big Sleep? I'm extremely interested in how they handled some of the content in this book - do they just omit the pornography angle as well as the homosexual characters (not to mention some old school homophobia)?

There's a dective/lie detector agency down the hall in my office building. It's just one really old dude in there who runs things but every once in a while I'll see people going into his office. *shrug* IDK maybe you have to be old like Rockford or Columbo or something. $:-\$

Interesting. I missed that detail the first time Marlowe described the room; it might have crossed my mind for a second but I didn't put it together until he mentioned that a suspect who thought only chicks went to the house "wasn't paying enough attention." Then he catches the lover who keeps telling Marlowe to fuck himself, and Marlowe starts calling him cigarillo, punk, wussy, etc $:-\$
