The update is mostly Blu-Ray oriented. It adds Resume Play to DVD and Blu-Ray playback, even if you eject the disc. In addition to that, it adds BD-LIVE to the system. If I'm correct, this makes it the only Blu-Ray player on the market to have this ability so far. The discs start coming out next month.

There's other smaller things. Last night i noticed that an icon appears whenever you have multiple browser windows open that sits between the windows and says "L2" or "R2"

it's for days when your laptop/pc isn't available for whatever reason or when a friend wants to browse without telling you "can i play on your pc plz? lol".

plus, since the ps3 is open, you can directly download files and play them, why bother with cds/usb?

This is truth right here, and one of the things I was always disappointed with. the PS3 is a fucking amazing DVD and Blu-Ray player, but no resume play? What the hell?

I can't bitch that they fixed it though. It basically makes the PS3 an even better DVD and Blu-Ray player.

Why would they need one? They've been fed lines since 2000 about how the Playstation will overtake PCs. If they buy a good PC they'd have to admit Sony were wrong
