So much homo for or against Carell?

I don't think he is necessarily the It Comedian, but he's pretty close.  The fact that he's been entrusted with a major tentpole flick this summer, even after Evan Almighty killed Universal last summer, is pretty big.

Get Smart is most certainly a tentpole flick.  It was even referred to by The Hollywood reported as a tentpole flick!  Warner Bros. is counting on it to be a tentpole flick!

Warner Bros. has The Dark Knight to hold their tents up, thank you very much.

Ben Stiller doesn't whore himself out to every offering and oversaturate the market with himself.  He never got really played out.

Are you fucking shitting me? He was in like at least 4-5 films a year for 2-3 years running. He has finally chilled out a bit now, and thank god, because he WAS overexposed and I was hating seeing his mug everywheres. Even worse, he isnt even funny.

Ah, let IMDb be my guide (now theres something Id never thought Id say). This is just 2004:

Meet the Fockers (2004) .... Greg Focker
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) .... Arturo Mendes
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) .... White Goodman
Envy (2004) .... Tim Dingman
Starsky & Hutch (2004) .... David Starsky
Along Came Polly (2004) .... Reuben Feffer

Studios have, at least in their eyes, more than one tentpole flick nowadays, Patel.

Warner Bros. booked huge presentations at ShoWest for the following films: Speed Racer, The Dark Knight and Get Smart.

You don't spend that kind of cash on something and not expect it to be relatively huge.  It might make or break for Carell, because the expectations for Warner Bros. are pretty damn high.

Um what's an It Comedian precisely? I have an idea but nothing concrete.

Stiller is still more 'IT' than Carrel. It's just that on the internet people follow his films before (being part Apatow's crew and all).

Stiller used to whore himself. I remember he appeared in that Puff Daddy and Jack Johnson clip in the early 2000's. He must of got kids or married or some shit and slowed down.

Also where's the next great black comedian?

PD sent me a PM to call out Willco for deleting posts. I don't even know what's going on.

lol. I think PD had posts about Stiller being a bigger pull to theaters for people compared to Carell. He was saying Carell's success in the box office is more due to starring alongside other prominent comedians (Ferrell among others). I guess Willco thought he was wrong lolz

I deleted Maurice's posts because he was asking questions I answered (WELL IF YOU THINK THIS, THEN WHAT IS THIS - I ALREADY ANSWERED THIS PLEASE KEEP UP) and skewing data that TVC and I were already talking about.  Maurice wasn't posting to make a point or a coherent discussion piece.  Maurice is a child and doesn't care about conversation; he was just trying to make noise and exacerbate a relatively civil and friendly debate (if you could call it that) into an all argument.  He's no worse than that dumb kid on a playground who is jumping and hollering around two friends bickering to instigate a brawl.  No thanks.

By the way, he was commenting that Carell's big box office successes were with co-stars, when his last two star vehicles (of which he was not helmed by a marquee director or had much of a supporting cast) grossed over $100 million.  Then he was mentioning stuff like Meet the Fockers, which was with DeNiro, Hoffman, Streisand, etc. in regards to Stiller.  I mean, TVC at least made a clear cut case with Night of the Museum's success and a debateable point about the foreign gross for The Heartbreak Kid.

I mean, if you're going to be argumentative, at least be funny - like Patel.

Also, has anyone notice how insanely buff Stiller is nowadays?  I remember when he was relatively scrawny.  He's always had a square jaw, but now he's pretty cut.  Ridiculous.

He's been that way for a while.  There's that scene in Meet the Parents where he's drafted to play volleyball in the pool and has to borrow a Speedo, so when he comes out he's ashamed and trying to cover his... ripped body!

I think that was putting his vanity ahead of the craft.  He's no Bryan Cranston, that's for sure.

Go on ahead. The fact remains that you suppressed posts to suit your own argument, something you've done before. There's no point in arguing with Willco when he's in "I'M RIGHT UR WRONG LOL" mode, even when you show him the numbers that clearly depict his wrong-ness. It's a shame really

It's bad form to delete someone's posts, Willco.  If you think PD was trying to derail the conversation or start an argument, you could have just ignored him.

No, I suppressed posts to avoid obnoxiousness.  I could care less about being proven wrong, as evident that you could easily say TVC is correct.  Just don't make noise for the sake of making noise.

Viscen, ignoring him only makes him worse.  The best thing is to make a time lock on posts - like TEN POSTS a day or something.  Then he'd had to think about what he's saying.

I didn't actually see the posts, I just think it's not such a great idea to delete them. I do pretty well for myself ignoring PDs less worthy posts *shrug*
