I'm actually kinda amazed how well the game controls. Still, it's a bit on the easy side. I'm sure the Hard mode will be more up my alley.

So I got this game like a week ago (with the awesome ninja stylus <3) and it's really good, if a little too short (beat it under 6 hours). I'm surprised by how fluently it works, despite a few issues. I basically posted all my thoughts on my blog but just to keep it short, I think it's a really good game and I sincerely hope other developers follow suit. Even if they don't, I hope Team Ninja makes some more games like this.

Took me a while to adjust to the controls (I never really felt 100% comfortable to PH's) but once you get them down, they are incredible.

yeah, there's no way in hell you can get 210 million karma without glitches or, I guess, if you played with trainers with your mod chip on, then switched it off before uploading your score. I'm not sure if any of those scores in the top 10 are real.

Let me put it this way-- when I play, I get almost all of the time bonuses on each fight, hit all the bonuses for the chapters (though I don't always get the chapter time bonus), and do all the 60 fiend challenges with tons of UTs...and I get about 13-15 million total for the game.
I think realistically, you can get somewhere between 20-30 million max (that's just a guess)--that's in Sigma, where you can boost your score higher with Rachel missions. I know the original had a different scoring system than black or sigma and I know the system for the latter games pretty well, but haven't played the original in years.

So that's why I'm in doubt...I'm not mad, I'm very happy for you Drewsy.

That's Black. I honestly completely ignore karma in Ninja Gaiden. It's stupid. Like I said before I'm freeform, the video's in NG2 will be able to show the skill of people like me better than some convoluted score system.

I can't replay this game.

The mandatory Normal mode does practically ruin it. I tried to replay it on Head Ninja, was really enjoying it as being the "true" version of the game, when I suddenly stopped caring because I had already played through all these levels.

Don't think of this as a real Ninja Gaiden game, it's not. It's merchandising, like a Pepsi hat or something.

I don't really see how you could do the lunar or something like the flail with a stylus w/ out making it a scratch fest. With the Dragon sword you can at least direct your slashes and stuff.

Yeah, one thing I really don't like is how you have to unlock difficulty levels in the NG games. As if it's some kind of honor to play Master Ninja mode on the console version.

That's cool, but you don't see where I'm coming from. It's not that convoluted, it's actually pretty simple and strict. I've been under the impression that there's a cap on the number of points you can get...you can't get points from the same fight twice, for one thing. like I said, I'm asking around to see if you didn't unknowingly run into some glitch or something. I'll gladly eat shit if I'm wrong here.

--you get a time limit in each fight, as well as a combo counter and kill count
--the time limit is worth 10,000, combos are 10 points per hit, kill count varies (in the 100,000s for a boss)
--UTs are worth 2000 or 5000 a piece if you do them within the time limit
--The average fight is worth around 15,000-25,000 depending on how many enemies there are
--There are like 5 or 6 secret 60 fiend challenges worth around 70-100,000 depending how many UTs you pull off
--You can only get points once from each fight

Most of the score is built up by the 10,000s, with the occasional 100,000 from a boss. In pure math, there isn't enough in the game to get close to 210,000,000 or 100,000,000 or 50,000,000 or 40. I don't know how you did it, but you got 20 games worth of points in one play through.

alright, that's that, I'm done. all I'm saying is that you shouldn't flaunt that score around people who know
