The first song is good I guess, but eventually the melodies get so damn repetitive and generic I kinda dose off. Then the second song does the same thing (piano-BIG RIFF-mumbling wailing-BIG RIFF). I fell asleep and woke up at the beginning of Hyper Music, then fell asleep after track 6.

So right now I'm listening to the full album. It's better now that I'm not sleepy

Most people on here think OoS > Absolution, actually. I've grown to like OoS quite a bit, but yeah, I still like Absolution more.

Ok, after my first coherent listen through: the album seems to be a mix of awesome songs and average songs, with the latter being more prominent. There are no "bad" songs on here

Showbiz is a weak debut imo. I'm not too fond of it. OoS is my fave because it was my first. If Aboslution were my first it'd probably be my fave as well.

oh they have no doubt some average songs, I'm just curious what he thinks is average on OoS. There are some songs I'm not as fond of as others, but nothing screams average to me.

I really don't like New Born's riff. The piano opening is somewhat cryptic and majestic, then this modern Green Day esque riff comes out of nowhere and kinda kills the mood. Same with Bliss in terms of the riff.

I duno. OoS was recommended to me as their best when I had never heard Muse and it made me think "meh" for some time. PD's list is pretty much spot on except that I like megalomania.

Every song on Origin of Symmetry is great, and Megalomania is a fucking fantastic way to end the album. It's Muse's 2nd best outro (after Knights of Cydonia).

Yeah, it can work both ways. I think it has more to do with the fact that Black Holes had some sketchy track ordering in the first place.
