Over the weekend i was online a hell of a lot on the PS3, in both my UK and JPN account and it struck me...

where ARE all the PS3 players?

No one ever seems to be online ... ever
I have a list full of Gaffot Sony fans and i never see any of them online.
What the hell is going on?

Infact, i think the person i see online most is Sho Nuff.

Perhaps sony fans really aren't into online (... yet?) or

I'm online with the PS3 a lot, but not on the weekends since I'm typically out doing stuff.

i had a bunch of people on -cough- my ps3, and nobody came online. granted, i only had like, 6 people on. the excuse they gave was that they watched blu-rays, which do not make you appear online.

i agree though, out of 50 or so on my PSN list only 5-6 are on, usually streaming movies. out of my 100 on Xbox live anywhere between 15-25 are on most evenings.

I'm never online though

I'm not putting the ethernet cord in my PS3 because I don't want to update it.

I always have 15 or so people on XBL in the evenings, maybe 4 in the morning if I'm on.

Both my PS3 friends I know IRL and they're never on.

I'm totally oblivious to who's online with the PS3 'cause I'll usually just launch right into a game and XBM isn't integrated into anything. The times I have checked it though, hardly anyone is on and if they are they're just folding. People love to fold, I guess.

I really feel kind of disconnected when I'm on the PS3.

I've only used my PS3 for movies since beating Uncharted. I did pick up Burnout:P for it last week but I haven't had time to check it out.

Yeah, there's never anyone on my friends list online either, and if they are, it's for Folding At Home.

I'm going to start deleting people so I can add guys like Sho Nuff and Mox who are actually ONLINE.

i went ahead and bought the bundle with the bluetooth headset

i was going to eventually have to get a headset anyway

and now i get the disc to sell or trade later if i get tired of the game

initial observations after dicking around on an empty map:

1. it was absolutely distinguished mentally-challenged to ask if i wanted to update my game before i installed it. i didn't know i had to install the game from the disc first. took me a couple of minutes to figure out that i had to delete the corrupted update, install from the disc first, then do the update again.

2. i really like the graphics. they are clean, crisp, and it's easy to spot things from the air. nothing stunning, but they get the job done in a pleasant way.

3. wow, these controls are tight. i love the sixaxis controls, they're very responsive. i remain convinced that motion control is great for flight games, especially for someone like me, who could never wrap his head around flightstick controls. the default controls are laid out well, but i'll experiment in actual gameplay to see if mine need tweaking.
