50 guests and 24 users? Is the counter even accurate?

I decided it was time to stop lurking, since I already had an account anyways.

I came back maybe a month and a half ago, ever since I've more or less given up on GAF.

So i'll probably be more regular.

Oh, and I'll be around here more too.

dude, why do other strings vibrate all of a sudden while I'm playing on a single string? This just started to happen. What could have caused this? I hear a constant glooming noise from the amp in the background when im playing.

You sure it's in tune?  It can do that sometimes if it's too tight

It's just that you need to mute the bottom strings so there's no ambient noise.  :-*

Yes, you'll need to mute extra strings with your right hand palm and after you've played for a little while you'll start to use your left hand to mute as well (with unused fingers or fingers that are fretting laying across other strings).

So if you hold your hand across all the strings so nothing is vibrating does that stop the noise?

Yes it does. But I didn't have to do that earlier.

I played a full day with my guitar out of tune. I'm beginning to think that it all happened because it is in tune now, silly... yeah  :(

You are probably right, if the guitar is in tune the strings are probably more inclined to resonate together.  Generally, you want the strings to resonate as it contributes greatly to the sound, but yeah, with distortion on an electric in particular it can be hard to control.

You can try turning the gain down a little bit until you get things under control.  Also if you have reverb on your amp, turn it down to say 2 or 3 otherwise those ringing strings will echo even more.

"turning the gain down"..... what do you exactly mean by that?

Sorry, I mean turn the distortion down.  There will likely be a knob possibly labelled "Pre-something" and when you turn it you get more or less distortion.

Turn it down a bit to clean up the sound slightly.  That should help you control it a little at least.

Nah dude that's not the case. I can even hear the vibrations without having it connected to the amp. Shit like this really kills the mood and excitement I have for playing guitar. God Damn It.

 :(

You have a guitar with a strat-style tremolo on it, don't you?  If so, it should be flat against the body like in this pic:

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1014/851468897_c0ee521a12.jpg

If the back of the trem has lifted away from the body when you tuned it up, maybe that is causing problems.  Unlikely, but that's all I can think of.

If you could somehow get an audio clip or youtube of your problem, that would help.
