How has Konami stayed afloat these past 3 years?
« on: April 02, 2008, 11:35:33 PM »
3 years into a money sink of epic proportions.

No real games I can recall.

No nothing.

They totally missed out on the 360, Capcom is royally fucking them in the ass.

Their footyball game is a mess.

Any ideas how they are doing?  Who is keeping them afloat?

Same as Take Two.

What is funny though, is why shares are going up on the cusp of their major releases, when it's blatantly obvious both businesses will be fucked once their titles have come out and they have nothing left.

Take2 is horribly corrupt, what is Konami's excuse for their misfortune?

Where the fuck are the games?

Winning Eleven/PES sells well year-round in Yuroland and Japan.  That's the only explanation.

Riding off PS2 residual sales, just like most of the rest of the industry.

What a shitty list of 2007 games.

There's about 100 games on that list and at least 70 of them are WE, PES, or a Wii/XBLA rom dump.

Does Castlevania make much money?

I don't recall seeing it in the top 10 although it's a popular franchise among the hardcore.

PES crams money into Konami's asshole like nobody's business.

Sales of PES have declined quite a bit in recent years.

they have been recycling the same assest for the last 10 years, so i doubt it needs to sell much to keep its head above water

It doesn't get much online attention, but DDR is also still a big moneyspinner for Konami.

Oh yes, Castlevania is a huge money maker, you wouldn't believe how many thousands* buy the games.

Konami has continued churning out kick ass baseball games: Power Pro, Power Pro MLB, and Pro Baseball Spirits.

Too bad they don't come out in North America, aside from Power Pro MLB 2.

They spent so much time fiddling with their patents they neglected to release a game. :(
