704x396? Why wouldn't he be able to play that?

Btw, I ordered my HP laptop earlier today. I don't have to worry about HD anime in .mkv format anymore. :D

Sometimes my old CPU gave me problems with some slightly-higher quality stuff.

I watch HD anime that's .mp4 or .avi on my HDTV through my 360. The 360 can't play .mkv vids though.

real drive - production ig anime, looks interesting but I'm not too knowledgable about the premise
chiko - second Bones anime this season next to Soul Eater. This one is a mystery series about a girl who steals art from museums. Sounds ownage and my most anticipated this season...STILL no sub.
library war - second production ig anime. sounds more interesting than real drive tbqh

overall this season seems AAA in terms of quality, comparable to 2003 when Last Exile and a few others were running at the same damn time.

Just watched Ep. 1 of Golgo 13. I like how while he's waiting on his gun modifications so he can go make the impossible sniper shot, he finds the time to shoot up a bunch of mafia guys, and fuck a prostitute with such skill that she begs him to stay longer, despite the fact that he just kind of laid there..  :lol Teenage male fantasy fulfillment in my anime?? It's more likely than you think.

Im not into most of the comedy anime since most of the jokes require an understanding of japanese otaku culture im not willing to commit to. Excel Saga and Hale Nochi Guu are my two favorite funny anime. I tend to watch 'adventure anime' which has its fair share of comedy as well.

Kemonozume - Cannabalism and hunting demons and awesome.
Gankutsuoh: Count of Monte Cristo - It has mechs, but it's not really about them, and also, they appear in about 1-2 episodes. Better adaptation than the recent movie.
Kino's Journey - Introspective and philosophical anime that's very unique and unlike anything else.
Skull Man - Show about a superhero. Extremely well made.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC series - Philosophy, sci-fi, ass kicking, robots. Awesome.
Basilisk - Someone once likened this series as the Berserk of ninja anime and while I disagree, it's still not that far off. It's about blood, kicking ass, and taking names. Awesome.
Golgo 13 - Manime

I've seen GITS: SAC and Golgo 13, not my thing. Isn't Kino's Journey old?

My taste in animu is probably a bit gayer than that, I liked Honey & Clover and Haibane Renmei. I have His & Her Circumstances but I've never watched past the first disc. I loved Genshiken & Azumanga too. Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien was great as well, although I watched it not knowing what it was from. Anything like that those I'd probably enjoy

One of the guys I used to work with supplied me with shit like Kanon and Colorful which were fine but I never really got into.

It was two comments. I wanted to know how many animes in this thread have things like sex and table masturbation.

I was also remarking about the fact that I'm low on hard drive space.

Golgo 13 has sex. Macross Frontier is better than sex. :rock

Yeah Kino's sorta old but you said you haven't been watching anime for a long time so I dunno how long it's been since you watched it.

Okay... I like a good light hearted anime myself but I haven't seen too much recent anime that does light heartedness WELL. Maybe someone else can enlighten you (beezy?). If you like Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances), Honey and Clover, and KGNE I'd suggest Bokura ga Ita. It's a romance comedy with slice of life. It's pretty decent.

One show people like that fits the bill you're interested in is Haruhi. I'm not the biggest fan but it's interesting.

Some other shows in that crazy and wacky vein:

Genshiken ova's :rock
Genshiken 2 :rock
Sayonara Zetsubuou Sensei
School Rumble series
Futakoi Alternative

Recently? Allison and Lillia. Although it's not balls off the wall wacky, so far it's a fun adventure anime with some comedy thrown in. I'd suggest it anyways.

I would really suggest Gurren Lagann but you said no mechs, so...

I'm not sure if you read manga or not but if you do, I HIGHLY suggest Yotsuba&. It's by the same person who made Azumanga, and chances of an animated version are slim. It's actually better than Azumanga too.

It's about 3 people. They receive a letter or something about being twins so they go this guy's house that is described in the letter. There are two girls and one guy. The guy is most definitely a brother of one of the girls, but they don't know which. A bunch of ridiculous stuff ensues and they fight over him despite the possibility of being his sister :lol

Oh shit. Pilonv, I forgot about Ah! My Goddess TV. Check that out too. And Yakitate!! Japan...a series about BAKING BREAD.

Comedy and slice of life animes? Himuro already mention Honey & Clover, Bokura ga Ita, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Genshiken, School Rumble and Azumanga. The only other two that I can think about right now that I would recommend are Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad (it's about a startup band) and Paradise Kiss (about fashion and design students).

I almost forgot about Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO). It's one of my favorite comedies. Watch and read everything GTO related if you can (manga, anime, drama, movie). They're all a bit different, but still good.

I haven't been watching these types of animes for very long, so this is about all that I've seen so far.

Fake Edit: Yes Yakitate Japan is fuckin hilarious too. :lol

But if you wanna go all out, aside from the stuff beezy and I have already listed:

I was bored today, so I decided to watch as much newly released anime as I can. At least the first episode or two. Here's my ratings so far:

Blassreiter = Meh/10
Allison & Lillia = This season's Last Exile?/10
Kanokon = WTF, no./10
Kamen no Maid Guy = Not a great show, but I still lol'ed/10
Zettai Karen Children = Japanese Powerpuff Girls/10
Kurenai = Hard to say/10
Kyouran Kazoku Nikki = Main character forcibly married to a catgirl in the first episode/10
Chi's New Home = Kawaii!/10

And finally:

Macross Frontier = Eye Sex/10

No way I'm watching Onegai Twins, I sat through the bullshit Onegai Teacher and that was enough for me.

I'm not sure how old Kanon was but it's probably the same age as the Dreamcast game.

I've seen Beck (good but didn't finish it), AMG TV (same as Beck, actually really liked it but stopped), Yakitake (didn't care for it), School Rumble (watched all 26 episodes), Paradise Kiss (downloaded the first episode and never watched anymore, can't even remember what it was like), GTO (watched some but I have a thing against shows with like 100+ episodes).

Will definitely check out Bokura ga Ita though.

School Rumble was occasionally funny, but it was so generic. The characters were basically interchangeable with characters from any other High School based anime. I can't remember anyone's name on that show, I just remember blond girl, blue haired girl, other blue haired girl, that one guy that likes the blue haired girl, the tough guy, etc.

I guess I'll be watching this.

That was just based on one episode, but it did remind me a lot of Last Exile. It's about this girl and boy and two empires at war, the girl's a biplane pilot, they get swept up in some kind of adventure that could save both empires. I downloaded the second episode, but I haven't watched it yet.
