I still say its the best comic movie out there, but yeah, it has its flaws.  And it becomes sort of boring and not as interesting as soon as he becomes Batman, strangely.  The best part is the backstory.

My wife pointed out the absudities of the villain's plot from engineering point of view during the movie and I never cared for it after that.

Why does putting a city in danger always have to parallel 9/11 these days?  I think you're TRYING to find that connection as a fault.  You know, movies about destroying cities existed before 9/11.

Because the building serves as a train terminal. He's not crashing it into the building (well, it crashes into the garage because of the  strut collapse). That's like saying any movie with an airplane landing is a 9/11 parallel because THEY'RE FLYING IT ONTO THE RUNWAY!

Batman Begins is good, not great. I remember thinking that the first few minutes were horrible; all the prison stuff, especially that blurry fight scene. There's a good way to do shaky cam fights (Bourne) and there's a bad way (Batman).

Overall it's a good movie although it does take itself far too seriously; perhaps it doesn't and I'm just reacting to the annoying Nolan fanboys who have almost ruined my liking of the movie.

I see what you did there. I just think Christian Bale played a better Batman than McGuire played Spidey. Plus, the cinematography in Begins was brilliant. While it was good in Spider-Man 2, it was less so.

Bale was good as...Bale. His Wayne is definitely the best Wayne we've seen in a film but no matter how many times I see the movie, I don't saw "THAT'S Bond." I can watch the Ironman trailer and see that's really Tony Starks. Granted Tom Cruise could have done it better, but I digress

Sounds like you are gearing up for an Army of Two purchase.  As previously mentioned, the game DOES feature actually 9/11 footage, with one of the characters acting comedic in the very same scene.  It is awesome.

"9/11 parallels" are the new "Cold War/Red Scare parallels." Any movie made in the 50's and 60's has to have been some kind of metaphor for the Cold War or communism, any movie made in the 2000's is going to be interpreted as a metaphor for 9/11 and terrorism.

Ah, so refreshing to have a BB thread in which people actually voice some of the films many issues, rather than suck at its teet like at GAF. This thread alone shows what is great about this place.

Anyways, I really like the movie, but its not my favorite in the "genre" by any stretch (I too prefer S-M2 by a rather large margin), and for me, it really falls apart after the first hour. Its almost pitch-perfect in the setting up of the character, but once he actually becomes Batman, it becomes something of a "who gives a fuck" affair. So there ya go: Batman Begins ceases to rock once the titular character shows up.

I hate all of the Spider-Man movies. They're mostly okay, but they're peppered with these scenes of absolutely horrendous acting; we're not talking humorously off little moments in an otherwise good film, like "SWEARTOMEEEEE" in BB or "A DIVERSION???!??!" in RotK.

Like, "holy shit how could they have thought that was a good idea it is so horrible I cannot watch this movie without thinking about that horrible scene," movie ruining scenes. Like, you get a really nice, moderately expensive mid-size sedan, but there's some tiny piles of dogshit in the trunk and you can't take them out. The whole thing is ruined.

Spider-Man 1 had Norman Osborn (with high school play-level acting) sobbing to the ghost of Snidley Whiplash in a plastic Goblin mask.
Spider-Man 2 had... I can't actually think of a standout offender, but there were some bad times.
Spider-Man 3. Yeah, the dance scene. Pretty much every Emo-Peter scene. Fuck, nearly the whole movie.

I don't know, before I saw Batman Begins I hadn't really ever been into the comic movies and I never really was impressed by any of them.  I saw Begins, and I instantly was looking forward to the sequel.  I think its the perfect Batman movie and I still think the best comic movie I've seen.

It has nothing to do with what the monster does, it has to do with how it's conveyed on film.  The way the shot is laid out is completely made to remind you of those famous cam videos from 9/11.

Spider-Man is the only overall good Spider-Man movie.  SM2 has Molina, but he can't save the movie, which is largely boring. We had the origin story in the first movie. . .why does the audience have to suffer through an hour of tedium to get to anything interesting in the terrible sequel?

Batman Begins is decent, but it's so muddled.  It feels like several episodes of a miniseries rather than a movie, and that feel makes the climax feel, well, rushed.
