George Clooney's "Leatherheads"

Every once in a while you see a film that misses the mark by such a wide margin, it  really makes you appreciate run of the mill shit films.

This is that film.  Clooney's Leatherheads was pretty bad.  So many clunky scenes, so many clunky lines.  He gets nothing out of his actors, rennee Zelweger is SO BAD in this movie, that kid from the office is totally forgetable.  Clooney himself was ok in the flick but my god he has zero knack for capturing a moment.  There were maybe 3 or 4 good moements in the whole film.  He is not a director, he is 'Shatner bad'.  All those times I saw him as 'executive producer' on a film I felt for sure he had some brains in his head.  I still this he does but filmaking is NOT for him.  Stay away geroge, let Soderbergh call the shots.

So bad.  So very very bad.

avoid this flick, it is like he tried to make a poor Cohen Brothers comedy while holding a diaper full of shit.

Oh another thing, the film had such bad focus.  You don't even know OR CARE who you are supposed to be rooting for.  This isn't an exercise in ambiguoty, it WANTS you to root for someone, it just does such a poor job of laying out the charachter that you have no idea what the hell is driving half the scenes.  This is especially true towards the end of the film.

Beyond that, his techncial skills are nonexistant.  There is one scene where a kicker kicks the football into thte crowd by accident.  He films the kicker kick the ball, the very next scene you see the crowd reacting to a ball that looks like it was hand tossed at them.  It was so lazy and downright amatuer, this film belongs in the hall of shame.

There is an actual scene with a barfight complete with a piano player playing during the fight and smashing a bottle over a thug's head as he plays.  And it wasn't ironic.  It was baaaaaaaad.

no, except for the allusion to Geroge's character being a flaming taco.  But isn't that a conservative thing nowadays?   :-*
