Anyway since I figure some of you are getting close to the end I should alert you to the fact there is indeed a bit of extra stuff after the ending, including an optional BOSS RUSH MODE, so to speak.

SEMI SPOILERS FOR REALZ

Once you beat the final boss you unlock a new option in the phone menu where you can revisit any day of any week at any time. This is the way to get all hard/ultimate drops for all the monsters/bosses you fought before you unlocked that difficulty. Also you can choose which partner gets to fight with you at anytime.

Also unlocked (if you got some secret reports or something) is ANOTHER DAY, which has the hardest enemies in the game. Here you can challenge most of the characters to a game of "tin pin slammers" (marble slash was such a better name

) and get some REALLY good pins, like the best of the best. Vortex Slash

Anyway there are also 2 optional challenges in another day:

one, while looking for everyone to play the tin pin minigame with you, go down to near where the end of the game took place (sewers) use your mind reading badge (black skull) and you should see a door appear much like before. Enter it (no turning back unless you use the phone menu and redo another day) and you should see a certain familiar someone.

Talk to this person and you will enter a boss rush mode. It is damn near impossible so be very prepared... you fight like 9 bosses or something in a row. Bring a healing badge!

I think you get one of the best pins for beating it, and maybe some other stuff.

lastly, if you think you want an even harder challenge, go to PIG CITY (its to the very left of that soup shop area) and fight your way to the highest floor. On each floor you are limited to a certain brand of pins + the unbranded ones.

At the top floor is an optional boss who is supposedly the hardest in the game. He gives you a pin which evolves into the best pin after a while. I dunno I cant make it to the top

The Crisis Core backlash is pretty strong. I've looking to pick up, but I'm a bit hesitant as a lot of gamers of taste have totally bashed the game.

The game REALLY picks up after Day 7. Everything up to that is a tutorial. This is the first game I ever put on "Hard", I really enjoy the challenge.

this is really good so far. just on day four. I wish I could get some interesting badge drops EVER - all I get is money for dumb clothes, so far. I guess I need to jack up the multiplier.

being able to change the difficulty and your character level to affect magic find is incredibly smart thinking - it means you are always going to tweak the challenge to your own personal knife edge of challenge in order to maximize your rewards. this means that the game is always "just" hard enough...smart, very smart!

there's a bit too much dumb story, but I am just starting out. but it's hard to hate any game that features Moyai so prominently

Up to day 7, pin drops are pretty prescribed. After taht the game really opens up, it gives you a ton of leeway into how you use pins. The story is a little goofy and some opprtunities to make it more than ANGST FEST are passed up, but it taps into some interesting themes.

the dialog is unbearable. like really unbearable.

i still don't totally understand the combat. seems a little cluttered. you've got all this scratching and pointing and dragging. and then the two screen dynamic. fun though.

music is good, graphics are nice.

game kicks ass once you let the battle system work in a little. I'm at the 7th day now. I love the battle system, you can basically put as much variety in the fights by chaining battles and lowering your hp to make things more challenging.

I switched it to Hard as soon as I could and it's kinda hard. I think that's more of an end-game thing for once your pins are levelled enough to handle the difficulty spike + lowered level combo

I'm in the second week now too and I agree that hard is a pretty big step up

Damage dealed is suddenly reduced by more than half. I'll probably keep to my old normal + low hp combo to keep racking in the high ranks and ridiculous money drops.

The only thing about the battle system that annoys me still is that you have to be pretty accurate to get Neku moving. Running/dodging only works when I literally tap on his feet. The end of week 1 boss was a bitch because of this, I couldn't dodge his stomps most of the time

Joshua is awesome. He's my favorite character in the game, and has the best gameplay system out of Neku's partners, imo.

Week 3 was definitely my least favorite week although I loved the ending.

Finished it yesterday. The ending is kind of lame-o, sort of Matrix-y. I wanted more detail about why the game existed, what the point of playing was, etc etc. The twist was viewable 200 miles away and not being able to ave during the last 40 minutes BLOWS when your battery runs out during the credits.
