Hyped beyond all belief, by a certain sect. All that hype, actually hurt these game's sales once the reviews kicked in.

It hurt. The 6's and 5's and 7's. Really hurt. A LOT.

Dead Rising(predemo), Crackdown...
Too Human is the new Crackdown. Keep bashing it, keep throwing shit in it's face. "OMG artstyle/animation lawl."

When the eventual 8's and 9's (I'm sure there will be a 7 or two)roll in, it is not going to only cause a big splash on the net, it will give the title real hype. The hype that counts, hype during a title's launch.

By the same token it is my considered opinion, that Mass Effect suffered from negative hype at it's launch. The game had SUCH a good vibe pre launch, when it hit and the technical issues were revelaed, the hype balloon sank.

So the low expectations thing, I think it works. Do any of you feel this to be the case? I hoenstly feel TOo Human is going to rape at the cash registers. Honestly.

Yes, Crackdown and ZOE are classic examples. They both mysteriously sold well despite not having much hype.

I haven't followed it too closely, but I still don't see anything in TH that I want to buy. I'm just going to wait for a demo or reviews before giving the game any more of my time.

The animations in that last video everyone touted were so bad.

i think too human's revival of norse myth will resonate with an american audience hungry for positive representations of their white cultural heritage -- i mean who doesn't see the subtext of baldur's doomed battle against the faceless robot hordes (i.e. mexicans)

Well, my heritage is Celtic, not Nordic. But unfortunately, any games involving Celtic culture are invariably about a bunch of druids and werebears and some Irish flutes in the background.

People have been waiting since the fucking PS1 and its promise of FFVII-meets-Deus Ex-meets-Metal Gear Solid adventure spanning 4-discs.

Now people are waiting for its "Insert Popular Contemporary Game"-meets-"Another Popular Contemporary Game" style gameplay.

This is a trend I've noticed with Too Human. It's always a mish-mash of popular genres/ripoffs at the time.

I kind of ignored TH until a few months ago when I watched some video of the locales and so on and then I got interested. SK haven't made a crap game yet (although I might not have loved some of them, I cant deny they were good) so I guess we'll see.

Kain was good, if rough.
Eternal Darkness was terrible.
Twin Snakes was somehow worse.

And they haven't done anything since 2004.

ED was a better game than most REs. At least, in terms of control and plot.

Also, being able to run around in the mansion with Buffy was a nice touch.

No matter how good/bad it is, it'll still be highly sought after because it will only be available to purchase for two months total, tops, after Epic wipes its ass with Silicon Knights after they win their counter suit against SK. It will be this generations Kakuto Chojin (crap game that's discontinued/rare).

I'm just saying, SK has not ever shown a proficiency in tech, and all of a sudden they built a engine that's ABSOLUTELY NOT Unreal 3, but sure is comparable. Dyack should be working on getting his passport ready so he can flee to a non-extradition country. I hear Ecuador is nice.
