There were contrarians for No Country everywhere, though.  Go look at that one giant GAF thread where Green Shinobi makes himself look like a bona fide distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.

I gave Juno shit because it had Michael "I'm Good at One Thing" Cera and it appeared to be aiming for the sort of chic that terrible Wes Anderson movies do.  But as it stands, it actually turned out to be pretty good.  Even I, after all, liked Rushmore.

Also, I am sure that about 90% of the Juno bashing here was due to Cheebs.

I think it does it pretty well, though.  I mean, it won't convert anyone to liking the style or anything, but it's a good example of the style, down to a t.  I'm not going to spend time defending it or anything.  I'm not a particularly big fan of the quirk myself.

Oh, I watched all of one and two on TV, and gave up on three half way through the season. I've been DVRing season four, which I'll watch after I finish season three.

Reading about the scheduling issues during 2 and 3, I'm kinda glad I waited for the DVD sets.  By the time I am done with 3 and what's aired of 4, I should be all caught up for the finale.

Today's buys:



Image quality is good, though it's obviously not using as high a bit rate as film transfers.  There's a smidgen of image noise, and for whatever reason, certain scenes in one particular episode (the Sun + Jin ep.  Like ep 2) were of lower quality.  Still HD!



Want to know why There Will Be Blood sucks?  Because even Juno managed to pull an HD release.



A Patel recommendation.  Luc Besson is crazy hit-or-miss, but at least this promises to look really nice.
