Still the game best game on 360, IMHO.

I still need to beat it :lol

I think we pretty much finished it on a guest profile, and then I got Saints Row so I never got back to it.

Maybe they're working on it.  The original still has amazing production values.  It may be a long term project.  Hopefully they announce something at E3.  But you know its coming.  This is sequel happy Capcom were talking about and the game was a commercial success.  I'm just worried that Capcom will neuter it due to all the noobs complaining about the save system.

I love this game but I've barely played it due to the shitty AI and escort missions. I really need to finish it.

the Ai isnt that bad once you learn to use Waypoints effectively. Surviviors defend themselves pretty well when equipped and standing at a waypoint. Lets you clear a path through the zombies easily

Dead Rising thread... RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

Man, oh, man. I played the hell out of this game, and it's still the game I am most likely to fire up for additional playthrough. Lots of interesting Achievements, and not all can be accessed from a single playthrough, which also keeps with the game's save/load/restart policy, which is also decidedly focused away from single playthrough.

At around what level should I restart the game?  Cause I heard you still keep your exp/skills when you restart.  I'd want to be able to finish all of the story missions.

It really depends on how long you think you can play the game. If you just want a boost to make things a little easier, probably around level 4 or 5. But if you're a hardcore grinder, restart right before the end of the game so you can start a new game as a super-human freak of nature.

Actually, the latter sounds pretty cool. I might have to try that sometime...

The core gameplay is great. The missions are terrible, though. I hope they're a little more creative with the sequel. Escort missions always suck.

DR2 needs to focus on personal survival as the main goal and helping others as a secondary goal. Maybe throw in some co-op play as well.

In the first game, if you really wanted to, you could just stay in the security room until time ran out.

Is it really that good? I haven't touched it in months.

Stopped playing after the hot biker chick was pwning me with her bike. Annoying boss and the camera is horrible. Meh.

 :lol :rofl :rofl

OMG that never dawned on me.
Don't you still have to do the big antidote round-up if you stay in the Security Room?

The core gameplay is great. The missions are terrible, though. I hope they're a little more creative with the sequel. Escort missions always suck.

What missions? Seriously, other than escorting people and fighting psychos, I don't remember anything other than those two types, except the big antidote round-up.

As for escort missions sucking, I just mashed the "follow me" button like crazy, and they tended to stay near enough. Actually, I'd call them "follow me" missions, because to me missions are a maddening combination of defend mission while it moves through its own path through the gameworld. In most cases this means there's no ability to use the environment to your advantage unless, because its always changing and only the escort target can dictate where it goes. In Dead Rising, the escort targets (mostly) follow you, so you can pick a path less choked with zombie flesh.

Is it really that good? I haven't touched it in months.

That bike's a pain, but using the construction framework there you can mess with her back and not let her near you. I tend to take the BFG from the convicts' jeep into that fight, at which point it becomes "Come to daddy."

No... I didn't. That took some serious stuff, doesn't it? I think I've got several pieces, but not the whole thing, and not the RMB. I hear the RMB is the right casserole to bring to the party for fighting cultists.

Man, I just remembered one of my least favorite features in Dead Rising: friendly fire in mêlée; so many times I accidentally chainsawed or sledgehammered a survivor while trying to clear them a path out from a mob. "Here, miss. Let me just," (brrrawwrrr) "get these guys" (grawwwrrrr) "out of your way" (mmmmMMMWRAWR) (Jill is DEAD) "OH, you damned cunt. I am swinging a CHAINSAW here..."

When I play next time, I think I'll stock up on Queens at the coffeeshop.

Yeah, that's the one, right on. The Zombie Genocider Achievement; I may go for that next time, but it just feels like SUCH a waste of time to tool around in the underground garage... and that has to be managed while juggling survivor and story requests.

This is making me remember so much stuff about the game, like Otis. Man, I wanted to slap Otis after the third time he called, but even more

after he takes off in the freaking helicopter, la-di-dah...

I'm probably about 10,000 zombies away from the genocider achievement and blaster, I was working on it by driving around underground over and over... I'd forgotten about that, I should pick the game up again just to finish that off.

I love the game, maybe my favorite next gen title, for all it's flaws. It sold me on getting a 360. Dead Rising 2 with coop is at the top of my wishlist. (and Powerstone 3  :'()
The mini chainsaws with the super book combo makes the game crazy easy but it's still awesome fun. I leveled Frank up all the way and some of the abilities you get are hilarious.  I love the flip kick that pops off the zombies' heads.
The UI was so laughably hideous I still can't believe it  :lol

Yeah, another reason I want to go back to it is that I've got a 1080P TV now, but originally played and finished it on an SDTV. This time I'll be able to go back and actually read the mission text.

Actually, as much as I love the game, to be evenhanded I should call out some bad spots. While I actually have no issue with the save system (I was happy to see someone try something new!), the tank boss and final boss seemed at odds with the the game's core play mechanic.

uh, no it doesnt. You can spend the whole game down there and still get an ending, just a bad one.

Im definitely going back to this game at some point to get some more achievements. Hopefully sometime within the next couple of years lolz

The load times are pretty good...for a sandbox game.  I'm restarting at level 10 and going through it with a walkthrough to get as many achievements/exp as I can.  Should be fun.

I think the main key is to get many survivors delivered at once, no? I remember there was a huge bonus for a time I showed up with 4 peeps, and there are ways of getting 8 or more, apparently.
