jackie chan has a few words to olympic protestors

Kung-fu action hero Jackie Chan has warned anyone planning to stop him carrying the Olympic Torch he will come out fighting.

The Hong Kong hardman, whose films include Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon, is due to carry the torch when it nears Beijing, the venue for this summer's Olympic Games.

The Torch Relay's journey through Europe and North America has seen it become a magnet for protestors angry at China's human rights record and the clampdown in Tibet.

However, Chan insists anyone trying to protest on his watch can expect short shrift, warning: 'Demonstrators better not get anywhere near me.'

And the 54-year-old, speaking at the launch of latest movie Forbidden Kingdom, claimed many of the protestors are simply publicity seekers.

'They are doing it for no reason. They just want to show off on the TV,' he said. 'They know, "if I can get the torch, I can go on the TV for the world news".'

And the actor said he's excited about his homeland hosting the Olympics for the first time, insisting it will speed up China's development.

'It will provide another way for us to tell the world about Chinese culture,' added Chan.

'We are not right about everything. Things are getting better in China but we can change and are changing. We want to learn from the rest of the world as well as teach others about our ways and our culture.'

Then why don't these protests happen every time the torch comes around? Come on Jackie.

And no one's gonna learn shit about China as a result of this.

Oh really brave.....he's carrying it in China.  It's not like he'll have to deal with protestors anyway.

Does Jackie's kung fu make him invulnerable to automatic gun fire?

No.  Jet Li?  maybe.

He's spoken in support of Taiwanese (he even called their previous Pro-China president's election "A sham.") and Hong Kong independence, what the hell is China doing even letting him near that torch?

Oh right, he's the most famous Chinese dude on earth, so why not?  Even though Jackie ain't no friend of China's government.

Isn't China suppressing their own culture in Tibet? Just a thought there, Mr. Chan.

Seriously, the only way the Olympics could be justified is if a Tibetan won a medal. Sort of like how the black guy won the medal in Nazi Germany.

Patriotism sucks. Apparently there's going to pro-chinese supporters in Australia as well to fight off anti-China protestors so there'll be a three way with the security forces :lol

Jackie is a girl's name in my book.

You have to be a real man to carry off a girls name.

Jackie Chan is that man.  :punch
