I agree. That why I usually use my wavebird when playing VC games. The Wiimote weights down the CC. Sucks cause I actually like the CC.

Probably a couple reasons, but I'd guess the biggest one is so that they can have it be wireless. Building a wireless transmitter into it would make it much more expensive to produce, especially when it's guaranteed that everyone who owns the system already has a wireless transmitter they can connect it to (the Wiimote). Although I agree it would be cool if they could make a wireless SNES pad for the system.

one problem though, from what i read at gaf it's the same as the classic controller, meaning you attach it to the wiimote and not the console.

Isn't it the same size as the SNES controller? I don't know why anyone thinks it's worse than that one. The curve on the back is kind of weird but doesn't really change much.

Currently it is only available through Club Nintendo, the Japanese-only point redemption system (you get a code with every Nintendo game you buy, you redeem it on the website, you build enough points up to buy something you want). Not sure if the importers are just speculating that it will get a retail release, or if they have some kind of inside info that hasn't made it out to the public yet.

The wireless component doens't cost that much money. There was a Time or Newseek article which showed that Nintendo made a shitload of money on the Wiimotes.
