I don't care if the PS3 or 360 is in 3rd place. At this point, it seems like there won't be a "PS2" of this gen. They're all getting a bunch of games and at any point in time, I could own any of them. I've already traded systems back and forth to play various games many more times than I did last gen. All 3 are healthy enough to be in the market and continue to get high profile games, so NPD is kinda useless to me, other than to point and laugh or be shocked by 2.7 FUCKING MILLIO--

they didn't innovate cuz they was to focused on graphix which don't really matter i mean i can play the first zelda and love it today despite the graphiz so they dont matter plus my mom loved wii sports last christmass

Raising the base prices of consoles, and banking everything on HD. People didn't want to pay $100-300 more, people don't give a shit about HD, and now the entire console generation is in the toilet and Nintendo is making everyone look like fools.

Yeah, I think the luxury console experiment by Sony and MS is over. Most of here at least own one HD console, but we are type of demographic that will buy those consoles. People forget the Sony was very successful because kids and adolescents also had their parents buy those consoles for them. Most parents look at the current prices of the HD consoles and get sticker shock. However, our demographic owns HDTVs, laptops, iPods, Zunes, and the like. But our demographic is also small compared to the ones that bought PS2 last generation and continues to buy it.

Other than the RROD problems, MS is probably quite happy with themselves. The 360 has done much better than the Xbox, especially in terms of software sales. MS's image is too tech-geekish for it to draw in the Wii crowd.

No way would it be that soon. I have no clue what Nintendo's rationale was for revealing Mario Kart so soon from release, but I would expect a new Zelda mid to late 09 at the earliest.

i've actually enjoyed mario, no more heroes, and ghost squad (despite hardware issues), but i can't think of anything i'm looking forward to either. nintendo themselves have gone full on casual -- their alleged games this year are just castrations of the fighting and racing genres respectively. you figure third parties have got to pay some attention to a console that's selling like that, but somehow they've managed to neglect that grim necessity. bless their hearts

Since getting rid of my CRT TV, I've barely played the WII.

MP3 and SMG were both well made games but I just couldn't get into them because of how terrible they looked on my LCD monitor or TV. I couldn't finish Zelda:TP for that same reason.

The only reason why I made it past 1/3 of Zelda:TP was because I still had a CRT TV while playing it.

I know Nintendo was saving money but couldn't they have at least included a HD capable GPU? Even the Xbox was capable of rendering a few games in 720P.

I spent this weekend with the Wii as my only source of gaming and wanted to end my life. Sega Bass Fishing was fun, and playing IMPOSSIBLE MISSION was great. But I have a Dreamcast and a C64 emulator.

Wii is the perfect console for people who want to own a video game console but not play it.
