those damn 'combo statues' in DMC3
« on: April 17, 2008, 09:22:21 PM »
how am I supposed to do these? I'm on mission 15 or so and already skipped a few of them because they were impossible. I'm combo-ing for 10 minutes straight and then have to start all over again because the flames ignite again. And to think, I'm on easy-automatic ::)

Not that I know if the difficulity of the game affects the statues or not....

It's all in the combo variety, as far as I remember.  I'm not sure how automatic easy works, but it might be more difficult if you don't have exact control over your combo strings.  There are probably a few mentions of how to do each in any number of walkthroughs.

Yeah I just found a faq explaining it a bit. I usually get up to "Sweet" and get stuck there.

iirc doing  moves on the statue while in Devil Trigger helps boost your combo rank...

at least it does in DMC4 which im playing now

I don't know I tried the Devil Trigger on it but it didn't seem like it affected it.

btw the adjuctator (sp) I'm talking about is the one in the 'cube' room. Mission 18 I think... where you have to use Beowolf.

those statues suck ass

I should get back to this game (quit again after you get the guitar), but I really don't like this game as much as DMC1, liked the simplicity (as in: only 2 weapons) there more

I'll move on to Ninja Gaiden, see how I like that

I really don't like DMC that much. The funny thing is, fighting is my least favorite thing in this game and I don't look forward to battles at all.

then what is your favorite thing

mine are the wacky cutscenes. these games have a right to exist for that aspect alone

Yes I look more and more forward to the cut-scenes lately. Anything that'll hold me off from fighting :P

Exploration is another part I like better than fighting.

The DMC formula really got tired imo. Enter a room, watch every door get locked, fight shitty enemies, collect item, backtrack to a locked door ::)

exploration in DMC games is pretty non existent except for the blue orb fragments and apart from that it sucks. Crappy RE 1 era camera angles, frustrating jumps, slow run speed. etc.

It's the detailed and atmospheric environment I guess.

And I really wish games like this gave you some super power-ups or weapons without downsides. Or don't freaking limit them to 10 seconds like the Devil Trigger. I never use that shit because I don't want to waste it incase a better enemy comes along. It's really fucking broken.

use a wide variety of moves, and never use the same move more than 2x in a row, always use at least 2 other moved before repeating a previously used move.
