Any way to get XBCD drivers working on Vista?
« on: April 18, 2008, 04:59:56 AM »
I've gone through about 3 reboots here.  I've used my 360 controller on my PC before, so I made sure I uninstalled the default driver in device manager, but I still can't get the XBCD setup to pick up my controller.  Is XBCD just not compatible with Vista?  Having only one analog trigger available in Trackmania blows.

the vista driver is beta, so there might be some bugs or something.

try using xpadder: http://xpadder.com/

Okay, maybe you know this, maybe you don't:  In order to remove the controller from the device manager, the controller must be plugged in, or else the controller won't be listed in the device manager at all.  Does that mean that the controller stays plugged in throughout the installation, and at the end, you unplug it and replug it in?

You don't have to restart the computer to change from the 360 default driver to XBCD, or vice versa.

Just switch driver manually in device manager.  I'm not sure how XBCD works in Vista though.

I just stick to XP when I have to use XBCD as it's less of a hassle.

Did you manage to get Trackmania working with analog controls for throttle and brakes?

I couldn't get XBCD working.  I tried for another hour today.

The standard 360 controller driver works, but only my right analog trigger works.  I want left analog trigger for break.

Why won't you just use XP then?

Ok, I just switched over to the XBCD driver in XP.  It took less than 30s to do so.

Apparently there's no way to get analog braking because it's a game issue.  I assigned the triggers to two different axes but the game still won't allow me to use a trigger for braking.

Guess you're gonna have to use the left trigger as a button and pretend that the braking is analog.

TVC, my bad.  It is possible to get analog braking after all.  Just set the left trigger to Z+ and the right trigger to Z-.

Also, rumble works even with XBCD, which is awesome.
