Saints Row
« on: April 19, 2008, 12:51:11 AM »
Just bought it, time to start playing through it.

The opening is hilarious.  I can't tell if it's done on purpse yet or not.  And this game looks hot shit for its age.  Seriously, from what I've seen of GTA IV, it shames it.

Before this I had only spent a few hours on it at my friends, but that was just running around doing nonsense.

And I can recruit homies.  I like that.  There's territory stuff too right?

Is the framerate/tearing bad?  My friend told me it was so I never tried it.  Assassin's Creed is probably the only sandbox game that I'll need for awhile though.

It's not bad.  It gets choppy when a lot's going on, but it's always playable.  Tearing sometimes rears its head, but again, it's not so bad.  The demo of the game has worse framerate and tearing issues.

The game is kinda glitchy, though.  I dun know how much they patched it up.

:bow real gaming threads :bow2

Game rulz, I should pick it up again but then I'll be burned out for GTA4 and SR2.

And I'm pretty sure the game doesn't know it's joking.

tearing isn't that bad.

I did have to download 2 patches to play it though.  But it really only tears/drops when there's a lot of shit going on.  but the fire looks pretty amazing in this game.  that impressed me.

and omg, the shooting/fighting mechanics!  i loved the fighting

I also liked that as well as recruiting homies you could call up a few different NPCs who were quite powerful to help you out.

Also the music in this game is so under-rated

Beware, I think there's a way to permanently lose one of those call people to a glitch. I think it's the female who picks you up, if you call her make sure you wait for her to appear before turning your game off (or something)

I never got this as I'm not into GTA, but I did like the SR demo.

This thread makes me think I should give the series a shot, particularly comments about the game not taking itself too seriously.  I'll have to look into SR2 a bit more seriously.

They released a patch so you can turn on the V-sync to get rid of the screen tearing.

And I could never decide if the game's story is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek or not.  It's sure dumb as all hell but it was never funny either so if it's a satire then it's a very dry satire.  However when they did hit you over the head with a frying pan with their "jokes", like that Freckle Bitches crap, it was pretty bad.....like real bad.

Still liked the game though.

the game wasn't intentionally funny, but if you take it as ICY HOT STUNTAZ THE GAME, it's fuckin' hilarious. it's the game every fat white kid in a g-unit hoodie wants to make.

Uh. I think the game IS suposed to be taken as a joke. The whole gangsta stuff is incredibly overdone and stereotyped. There's a mission mode where you have to escape paparazis as one of your client bangs one of your whore in the backseat of your limo.

omg and the way a car sinks in water is bad ass.  the physics rock :bow2

lighting at night is awesome.  the missions have been more entertaining so far than anything i've seen.

I just hope they make the animations better in SR2.  Graphics are nice.   more cars on screen though too please

you revive homies by pouring 40s on them. TAKE THAT FEMALE GAF MOD!

Is this true?  Why didn't they advertise this?  If I had known this, I would have bought this game as soon as I got my 360.

This should be the tagline on the box

"Pour one out for your dead homies to bring them back to life!"
