I got carded today when I bought this... I won't be playing till I have some more time on my hands, like my winter vacation for instance... weather is finally starting to pick up out here in NY, and I want to be out biking some more. Maybe even biking at the park!

So I put a bit of time in this game. It seems very linear so far. Are there any non-linear areas? I'm really liking it. This is my first SMT game. I've been a square whore for the most part, but this seems very refreshing compared to FF/DQ.

As long as you figure out the press turn/weakness system early on, it's not so bad.

edit: and stay away from the labyrinth of amala, and grind before the matador, and stay immune to expel/death, and...alright, just stay in one room in the first area and don't move.

Any tips on the fusion system. I'm kinda of a loot whore in RPGs and I'm reluctant to fuse Personas and losing them forever. Or making a mistake and losing cool skils

The compendium allows you register the personas you have.So if you fuse and lose one,you can easily get it back for a fee. I don't exactly remember when you get it but it's early on.

I don't like The Answer so far, it's just the roguelike side of Persona 3 and nothing else, the game really doesn't feel as good without the rest

I ordered another copy of P3 regular so I could put the FES edition in the LE box with the artbook + OST. i'm such a fuggin' dork.

I bought a copy of Fes, but I have no idea when I'll get around to playing it. I played about 2/3rds of the way through vanilla P3, but I stopped after I heard about Fes coming out. Then I discovered that I'll have to start all over in Fes. Blah.

wow, it's just shit, they sucked out all that was good about Persona 3, now it's just grind, grind, grind, equip new items, buy new items, grind, grind, battle lame bosses that are the same as the enemies only with MORE palette swaps

there's almost no content in this shit, the few cutscenes are so disappointing too

I never thought I'd say this, but ignore this, watch the ending on youtube and wait for Persona 4

i read reviews from time to time but i can rarely trust them since they seem to be written by idiots. with this game i'm curious but i think i need to borrow someone's copy first to see if i like it. when it first came out in japan i was living over there and i saw a few scenes in japanese and one of them was a kid putting a gun in her mouth and getting ready to blow her brains out. i thought, 'i need this game.' then again, that's not a good thing to base a purchase on. without actually playing it (in english), without playing through the combat system, i can't be sure if this is another crappy game that i won't get around to until later - at which point i'll end up trading it in for a fraction of the price and losing money.

i started playing it. i expected my characters lvl to be at least ~60, and that most of the challenge of this new mode to be combining the right characters, personas and tactics. instead, i get a bunch of crippled characters, it takes forever to level up, and the expansion seems to be just about grinding. what's worse, it seems there is no compendium.

i already know the damn answer too. i'm curious to see what happens, but not 30 grind hours curious, i think.

right now i give it 3 peeing monkeys out of 10. $:-\$

Playing this for the first time (been holding off for this release) and am currently 10 hours into it. At first I was kinda taken a back by the style. It didn't feel as sinister as the previous Persona games did, but now it's grown on me a lot. I really like trying to balance my social life with school work and fighting Shadows. Something about that makes me feels more invested in the world than your typical jRPG with a heavy emphasis on story.

Combat, however, is a bit lacking for me at the moment. Having just come off of Nocturne it seems they really simplified a lot of the mechanics that made SMT:N so strategic. I think I'm regretting not choosing the Hard setting since I'm breezing through a lot of the battles. I do like how the game makes you think about how you go about Tartarus and having to pick your battles carefully so your characters don't get exhausted.

From what I can tell Persona 4 seems to be continuing this game's style but I do hope down the line they go back to the tone of the first two (three) games. Also it looks like the Persona 2:Innocent Sin translation is almost done. Hopefully soon as it would be a nice game to play on vacation.

the hotel scenes are way better than the beach ones imo.

i beat the first answer boss yesterday using charm skills. i'll try to play some more tonight. the grinding hasn't been as annoying as i first thought, but i'm still not very excited about it. also, in the answer, the teleport points appear AFTER you fight the bosses, so you can't heal yourself/change allies before a battle. you can go back to the desert of doors, but then you have to get to the boss floor again. i'd rather have the time restrictions back than this and the no compendium thing.
