http://www.quakecon.org/Will any of you console tards be attending this glorious orgy of PC gaming? It's still several months away (July 31 - August 3, Hilton Anatole, Dallas, Texas), but advance registration for the BYOC (Bring You Own Computer) starts April 30th, and will probably be full by April 31st. It always fills up fast. It's worth it to try and get in though, and even if you miss out on the advance registration you can generally still get in if you just show up. There are no fees to get in, it's all totally free.
I went last year, and it was amazing. Hundreds of people playing every flavor of FPS (and the occasional RTS) simultaneously for 72 non-stop hours, fueled by nothing but energy drinks and pizza deliveries. And if you need to take a break, you can hop on the DC++ server with over 100 Terabytes of movies, games, anime, and of course pornography for the having. It was nerd heaven, and I can't wait to get back. This year's going to be awesome with Team Fortress 2 and the full version of Quake Wars being out. They usually have a Guitar Hero tournament, hopefully this year they'll have a Rock Band tournament, that would be great.
