Ooooh a classic track, set to Spirited Away??  ???

Ah I get it, Trains across the sea, nice.

"Half hours on earth, what are they worth?  I don't know...
In 27 years, I've drunk 50,000 beers
and they just wash against me,
like the sea into a pier."

I haven't heard that one, I'll have to check it out.  The song in that video and the song Tenessee are some of my favorites of theirs.

Found it:

Cover of the EP had DC and Malkmus looking out on a bridge in what looks like France.

Best lyricist of our generation for sure.

Going to buy it when it comes out of course.

Awesome song, so far im digging it live a lot.

"Oil paintings of x-rated picnics
behind the walls of medication i'm free
every leaf in a compact mirror
hits a target that we can't see"

bu bu bu you got lyrics at least, right? :)

Maybe you should get the album American Water.  There's another guy who sings on some songs on that album...he isn't necessarily a good singer, but he sounds great next to Berman.

Good call, American Water is their most accessible album(it's fantastic, but so are pretty everything he's released) due to the heavy contributions by Malkmus's singing.

But the point is yes, his lyrics alone make up for his crappy voice.  He consitently paints a picture with every song he puts out, and they are all unique and touching.  One of my favorite lines of his puts it best imo: "All my favorite singers couldn't sing".

From Amazon.com's page on American Water
"All my favorite singers couldn't sing," Dave Berman of the Silver Jews idiosyncratically speak-croons on "Blue Arrangements." To make the point hit hardest, he doesn't sing so well himself, but it's well-taken: from Lou Reed to Bob Dylan, John Cale to Palace, conventionally "good" singing isn't the most necessary element in effective storyteller-troubadour music. Berman is a prose poet by day and rocker by night, and his lazy-sounding, countrified, skeletal, yet invigorating music celebrates the union of word with sound in a manner simultaneously classic and seldom heard. It's hard not to like a record that begins with the line "In 1984 I was hospitalized for reaching perfection." Thankfully, Berman doesn't trade in the wordplay he and collaborator Steve Malkmus are so expert at. If only Pavement's Brighten the Corners were this relaxed, full of melodic hooks, and cagily profound. --Mike McGonigal

The best contribution He has added to his releases are his wife's vocals during key points on certain songs.  She really shines in the new leaked album.  Party Barge is a KILLER new song with them trading vocals back and forth.

Thanks, he is a wordsmith for certain.

Btw, i actually don't think he has a crappy voice.  It's part of the charm and the music wouldn;t be half as worthwhile.

Spoon actually ripped off one of my favorite songs on 'The Natural Bridge".  It was such an obvious rip too.
