It's a shame they don't just go ahead and annouced the definitive PC version, but I can understand their logic. Getting people to double-dip for the superior revision just makes sense, and it's harder to do that if they know 100% sure it is coming.

Yeah, GTA has never been technically proficient on any platform other than PC.  GTA3 was kinda a rough port but VC and SA were excellent.  

The user-made mods on the PC were also pretty cool.  Free DLC ftw.

Hopefully there might be some demo or something for GTA4 on the PC. I'd like to see what the fuss is about, but I actually have some morality that kicks in and prevents me from actually buying the game and voting with my dollar that I approve its sort of completely arbitary and brutal violence.

Even Mass Effect isn't that bad - it's got the Halo 2 syndrome of texture pop-in but geometry is fine.

That's just a complete non-loading of geometry and textures. If the game is like that I won't even play it.

Well, I just changed my order to the PS3 version.  I was also so sickened by the superiority of the Playstation 3 that I sold my Xbox 360, and all of my games.  I will be playing the superior versions of titles such as Virtua Fighter 5, Assassin's Creed, and of course Lost Planet on the better console.

If the content was free and available or at least previewed in detail right now, then maybe you'd have a point. But there are a whole lot of unknowns there at this point. The content could be great, or it could be shit, or it could be unattractive for whatever reason. It's also going to cost extra, so it's not really quite as simple as claiming that it has more content. As of right now, one version appears to be somewhat better than the other, and if the prospect of waiting to pay for content of unknown size and quality isn't appealing, one might be tempted to buy the better version.

That was more contractual, wasn't it?  By the time Vice City came out, they realized that the Xbox was not just a flash in the pan newcomer, so they released stuff for it the minute the timed exclusive limit was up.

i have really liked the PS3 motion controls in warhawk and blazing angels (although blazing angels is a shitty, shitty game otherwise)

When it comes to the graphical differences between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 verion I was surprised how much better the PS3 version actually is. Sure, the differences doesn't acount for a whole grade (obviously not, if that was the case there would be two different reviews) but it's actually not far from it. The PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV is nicer in terms of color depth and contrast, loadtimes are significantly shorter and the textures look a bit higher res. It's also a bit sharper and contains a more even framerate than the Xbox 360 version.
