Full of win for me so far.

For those bitching about the controls, you can switch to the classic scheme in the options. Highly recommended.

I'm still not seeing where to store these vehicles. There are a few garage doors near the taxi place but they don't open up, and then there's a river and a navy yard on the other sides of the cab stand.

The Blista Compact (Civic CRX) handles pretty well. But it still can't brake for shit and it somehow can't do a U-turn at an intersection which my fullsize car IRL can do no problem.

demi - I just got the Driving Mr Bellic achievement. He just called me at random on the street and told me I can use his cabs anytime, even though the in-game tutorial told me how to do it half an hour ago.

okay, i'm slowly warming up to the game.  after the first couple of boring missions i finally got to cap some dudes with the irie jamaican mon.  i kinda enjoyed the gunplay.   hand to hand is ass though.

* driving is OKAY -- not sure why some of you noobs are having such problems with it.  basically emergency brake every sharp turn and you're golden.
* graphics are crap imo.  don't see the fuss between fanboys considering the game looks like shit despite what version you own.
* love the new GPS map feature and the practically zero loading time i've been experiencing (on the 360 version even).
* radio stations are fucking ace - the classic hiphop station featuring dj premier is like a dream come true in a GTA game.  can't believe group home "superstar" is a track in this game.  that's like one of my favorite primo tracks ever.
* overall, i'm diggin' it.  i'm nearly 3 hours in and i can see this being a big time sink.

no way does this game deserve a 10 rating though.  i'd say it's a sold 8.5.  my 5 cents.

it's not too bad. i just tap instead of holding it down.  but then again i haven't tried as many vehicles as you.  my opinion might change tonight.

GPS is a first for GTA!  but yea, i'll give SR credit for that one.  it's an awesome feature that should be in every sandboxy game

the scope is very cool, especially when it's nighttime.

some cool things

- Euphoria skeletal system is awesome.

- scope and activity.  so much more going on.

- Niko's writing is hands down wayyyyy better than anything else in the GTA series so far

- Choice of missions.  That's awesome.  I like disappointing people by telling them no.

Game is gonna be short - I've played 2.5 hours (some of it BSing in online freeroam), I feel like I've barely done anything yet I'm almost 10% completed. I'm sure you hit the end of the game at like 70% complete.

That's another thing - why the fuck do I need to hold A just to run? I have an analog stick and it never makes sense to walk. Then you have to TAP it to run at a decent clip. Fuck that noise, in SR I hold a shoulder button and I'm going twice as fast as Niko ever does.

I can't wait for the Wii version... graphics won't be downgraded very much (they're pretty bad as is) and at least the bowling controls would be good.

Anyways, my brother rented it (360 of course) and I figure I give it a shot. My thoughts:
-I like how the lead character is Eastern European this time around, hell his last name even rhymes with mine
-The dialogue is pretty good, too, I actually laughed a few times..
-Electro Choc is a good station, lots of nice songs on it, hell yeah deadmau5!
-There's a car named the Landstalker, nice of them to name drop a much better game
-Is it just me, or is the framerate kind of sluggish? Makes me a bit nauseous
-Cars control like tanks on ice, last time I've spun out this much in a game was when I tried playing Gran Turismo like I do an arcade racer
-Character's control is stiff and I don't like how the camera moves with him
-Graphics are extremely blurry, the depth of field is terrible, I can't even tell what's going on!
-Reggae and reggaeton stations, eew
-I don't like the fighting, not used to the new fighting system at all
-Just seems like the same old thing, just slightly improved
-Real-world locations are nice, I see a lot of places and areas I actually recognize, in the game
-Why the fuck is Jersey in this game and not Long Island or Staten Island (which is an actual borough of NYC)
^_^

Where are the hidden packages and killing sprees? I want random stuff.

Glad others think driving is SHIT. The worst is the camera that doesn't follow you around corners. Whoever said trampoline suspension was right, the handbrake is only useful for changing 180degrees and the cars turn like boats.

That brick mission with the China shop was worse than anything in Saints Row.

For something with an "Oscar worthy" story it sure was nice to meet every stereotype under the sun in the first 2 hours. Weed smoking jamaican, thug negro, pissweak asian store owner, lying sleazy eastern europeans... etc

Why is melee combat so laggy?  I like that they've gone with a Bully/Warriors system, but it feels like speed has been slowed down by like half.

I just did the very first, very easy chase mission, and it completely sucked with the vehicle controls.  I'm fine when driving vehicles at reasonable speeds (speaking of which, why no speedometer?), but it seems like the physics are a bit too real at high speeds.  Or something.
