Basically. I only got it because I need something to hold me over till SR2 and lets face it, this is the hot new online game.

Funny this, I'm hoping GTA IV to tide me over until Prototype and later infamous come out and show the world how sandbox games are supposed to be done. It's a shame about the lack of super human powers.

Saint's Row always had a reason to exist-- first, as a surrogate GTA and now as GTA without all the good story and cultural commentary, but perhaps better gameplay.  It'll be for people who want to focus more on sandbox gameplay and little things that the OP mentioned. 
I like GTA's world much better though...the whole thing is so surreal.  Even my friends who don't game love watching it in action.  I'm not much for sandbox gameplay, but I like GTA just as a cultural experience.

How? What matters most in a GTA is substantially improved and just overall better in Saints Row. Saints Row doesnt have a silly cell phone mechanic... big deal, the cars drive like shit and the fighting and guns are shit.

In all honesty, the cars don't drive any fucking better in Saints Row. You may have a point with the aiming. I personally haven't had a problem with the on foot shooting mechanics in GTA since Vice City. Saints Row wasn't that much different from what I can remember, but I remember aiming was slightly easier in Saints Row. Then again, I kick ass on foot in GTA games, which is why I'm probably going to try out multiplayer some time this evening.

Plus, the fucking story. The characters. The GRAPHICS. People are saying GTAIV looks like shit? In comparison to Saints Row, GTA looks fucking epic. I literally said out loud the first time that I played Saints Row that it looked like a Dreamcast game to the friends in the room at the time, and they agreed wholeheartedly.

Graphics, characters, plot, environment all good. Shooting is great. Even multi is pretty awesome so far and I'm only free roaming.

But the whole game is just slugggisshhhh, cars, walking, all animations. GTA3 and VC and SR are fast paced mayhem, SA was already slowing it down and this game takes it to a new level. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Saints Row DOES look fucking horrible. I won't concede to anything defending the graphics in that game. It took me forever to play the game because I was turned off by how fucking horrible the game looked whenever I first played it.
