Definitely agree - but I think there is legitimate cause for annoyance with GTA4. Most of the people posting have already laid down their $60 and the game is just different from the PS2 ones and SR in some important ways.

Bitching because fundamental differences in controls - you can fucking get the same controls as the old games. I found that shit out in ten fucking seconds.
Bitching because Saints Row is better overall - jesus christ what the fuck I'm not going to touch this one.

My point is that there really isn't anything BAD about the game I'm playing. Saints Row was good too, but the graphics were Xbox 1.5 IF THAT and it didn't really control that differently IMO from GTA except for maybe having better aiming and on foot controls.

This thread is being DERAILED, but I'm with you. Saint's Row was an interesting take on the GTA formula, but it was still little more than an imitator. GTA4 steps in a number of big ways and all we get is "DUH MORE OD THE SAME". Wasn't that the case with SR? Or did the ragdoll and car customization somehow add up to more than the greatest open-world sim yet?

I've been noticing how much people bitch about controls in any game.  It's like they forget there's a learning process behind any game's controls, so as soon as they have trouble with something they give up and say the game has shitty controls...just plain idiocy. 

Like this game for example...spend ten minutes driving around and get to know how the controls actually work (rather than bitching about how the cars don't all turn on a dime.)   Voila!

Saints Row offered arcade fun in an open world setting - it wasn't trying to be a crime cinema simulation.

I can get over that though. I just hope that cars other than the Ferrari I drove in multiplayer will become drivable at some point. I'm enjoying the rest of the package.

I'll give it a go tonight. I'll also add that everyone should try out the demo for Airport Mania . It's one of those time management sort of casual games, but it's got some pretty good mechanics and  variable target scoring/rewards for playing with high skill , something that isn't often seen. It's also an interesting setting with super cute graphics.
