You need a beta code which was distributed via the pre-order bonus MSG Saga Volume 2 disc.

Did you pre-order MGS4?

I did. But I didn't get the bonus disk. My local GS was sold out

I pre-ordered the LE, and got the key with the pre-order bonus. Which is ridiculous since I ~~hate~~ don't particularly like MGS, but I'm a dork for nice looking LE boxes.

No, you'll pay for it in frustration. You'll have to downloaded multiple patches, get a Konami ID, etc.

It's not worth the time. Just buy Metal Gear Solid 4 and forget MGO exists.

is it really that bad? when I first updated by ps3 from the stock firmware to 2.3 it took foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is that representative of how long most stuff on psn takes? the resistance 2 trailer downloaded pretty quickly

It's not that bad. Just make sure you pick P2P as download method, and have some patience while it picks up speed. Registering the Konami id, and game id (it doesn't use the PSN id

) is where people have ran into trouble, but it should be fairly smooth by now.

It will let you choose between HTTP and P2P when you download the updates.

Also, when I'm downloading something from the PSN store, it says "download in background" but when I start watching a movie or something it either goes SUPER slow or stops? THAT'S NOT THE BACKGROUND!

Movies from the HDD work, but I'm not sure it works for actual disc based movies.

in fairness the second patch is very small. but still to download 700mb for the game then 700mb for the first patch is fucking gay
