I felt the sky dungeon was the best dungeon in TP but I'm partial to Arbiters Grounds. It really was my favorite Zelda dungeon. It actually felt like a dungeon! And the weapon you got in that dungeon was fucking genius. The boss fight was so fucking inventive too, although it was a bit easy...
TP does a lot right. The dungeons in the game are some of the best the series has to offer. Each dungeon gets better than the last. The wii controls were excellent and intuitive for the most part, aside from the move Shield Bash which had you thrust the nunchaku forward. It worked for me maybe 25% of the time, total. I felt the story in the first half of the game was Zelda at its best. I really enjoyed the wolf sections, and the game was consistently varied throughout; the Panzer Dragoon-esque part, the wolf puzzles, the showdown duel at the bridge, finding the children. The variety was so fucking excellent and I was positive I was playing the best Zelda ever, because that's what I feel the first half is, especially as the slowly uncover the game's world.
On top of this, the first half of TP was the first time I loved a Zelda story. Link's facial expressions made him alive more than he ever was in TP, and Midna...Midna is the fucking shit. Zant easily has the potential to be the best Zelda villain. The first half of Tp's story was far more interesting than typical regurgitated "we have to go to these three dungeons to get this item for such and such blah blah" and I had an actual incentive to help Midna out because I liked her so much. The characters like the kids were cool too.
Then the second half started and it became typical Zelda "we have to go to these dungeons to get this item." The dungeons get better and better but everything else started to get disappointing.
Zant becomes a laughing stock so Nintendo could shoehorn Ganon in the game, when Zant was far superior. I hated Zant, and he was a much better villian than Ganon EVER was and he becomes a goddamn clown.
The characterization the game hinted at earlier, like Link's relationship with that girl, and the characterization of Collin's father and other characters that the game hinted at being interesting characters early in the game was ignored and dampened. Link becomes once again, a shallow character and lacking the energy and tenacity he had early on. Midna remains the best character in the game throughout. In fact, she's the best Zelda character period.
The wolf form becomes an afterthought, aside from maybe 3 times in a few random moments in the second half's dungeons. The weapons and items you get in the dungeons in the later half, like the spinner, are used only in that dungeon for 5 minutes and then dropped later on. It didn't really feel like I had to use them later in the game more so than usual in a Zelda which sucked.
Since the overworld was entirely open now, it gave the game a lack of fulfillment. I loved unlocking each part of the world in TP as it gave me more incentive to explore. Once that was done, I started to realize just how shallow the game's world was. There wasn't much to do in TP, and most of the sidequests were derivative fetch quests. The game didn't feel rewarding or exploration like games such as Link's Awakening or Ocarina. The best thing about TP though, was fishing. Holy shit most relaxing mini game of all time, especially on the wii. THe fishing mini game on TP wii was the fucking shit, and really gave me a boner for a potential fishing game on the wii.
The difficulty was also pretty hilarious. I remember the game being far more difficult earlier on because some enemies would take off 3 hearts if they hit you and it felt more difficult. The later game was a piece of cake, although the puzzles rocked.
TP was a really good game, but the second half lessened its quality, I think. That said, the first half is, in my opinion, potentially the best Zelda has to offer period.
I'd give it an 8.5
