Great music? Lake Hylia, sure. But the the desert? It's a bastardized version of the Gerudo Valley theme from OoT.  :-X

The level itself (well the 4th temple) is orgasmic, however.

I remember the Gerudo area being sort of ugly (relative to the rest of the game), maybe I'm wrong.

HOLY SHIT!!!

I thought nothing would beat Lake Hylia's graphics, atmosphere, music and feeling in Twilight Princess. It was a perfect "level", so life-like, so soothing...

ENTER GERUDO DESERT

God... D A M N!

I've seen some crazy good looking deserts in games. I loved KOTOR's desert, Fallout's desert, God of War desert with crazy Sirens, Morrowind's deserts with amazing desertstorms but NONE of it comes close to Zelda's Gerudo Desert.

Amazing graphics? Check.
Amazing blur in the distance? Check.
*AMAZING* draw distance? Check. (you can even see Lake Hylia from there! the waterfall and the Island of Treasures!)
Amazing music? Check.
Fuck-ton stuff to do? Check.
WILD BOARS TO BE MOUNTED? Check.
Fuck-ton hidden Poe's all around the map? Check.
Flying crazy helicopter thingys that you can hook on and glide over the amazingly good looking environment? Check.

Holy shit this is it.

THIS IS IT.

This is THE Twilight Princess moment for me. Lake Hylia falls to second place.

And yeah, it's better than Gerudo Valley from OoT.

Without Screenshots, this thread is worthless

how the hell is alttp dated

I played it for the first time when it was ported to gba (not long ago) and it was one of the best zelda's I've played til then. It had the best overworld of the 2D Zeldas, some seriously awesome dungeons, a bit of difficulty still... I don't see what's dated about it

OoT... there I'm not debating you (at least in the graphical department)

LTTP works as sort of a stepping stone to the portable Zeldas.  Not to say it isn't a fine game, but Link's Awakening and both Oracle games present a sharp enhancement of essentially the same material with more unique items, more abilities, much better puzzle design, and better dungeons.  LTTP is absolutely playable, but a bit archaic in comparison.

I don't believe any Zelda has more items than LttP. Even if you don't count two rods or whatever as unique.

I didn't like the desert so much - it was pretty barren and because I'm the sort who has to cover every square inch to make sure I don't miss something, I wandered around for a fair while.

Once I got past the sandy part of the desert I liked it a lot more, and the dungeon is good.

I did think Midna's theme was friggin' great, and also the nice music after you defeat a boss and the room is all calm.

Mole Mitts were cool, yeah.  Gust Jar was pretty cool too.  And plus the dungeons were tons better in Minish Cap, at least better than the first like 5 LttP dungeons.

There were like 4 dungeons compared to the robust 8 of Link's Awakening.  I'm not living in the past I just think Link's Awakening is much better than Minish Cap.

And I don't even like LTTP that much.

LA had a way more intuitive and clever underworld too. MC's overworld was just a  bunch of Tetris-piece segments separated by rocks you had to roll into holes when you linearly got to the other side.

LttP gets too much hate. I can totally understand why people would prefer the overworlds of LA or the Oracle games, but other than that, and story (if you're into that sort of thing), LttP does a better job at everything else. Music, items, and even dungeons to a degree (I breezed through the first 3 in LA like it was nothing).

The game gets so tedious eventually, never finished it. The only Zelda I haven't finished.

Next Zelda doesn't need to be an OOT clone. Do something exciting with this franshise, Nintendo.

But what about the children? That kid that wants to be just like me, how inspiring! Let me risk my life to save these annoying children, now that's some great motivation. As if I didn't have enough needy kids around IRL.

Seriously, this game is lame. And lacking the distinct visual presentation that TWW had, it's also a whole lot less attractive.

Perhaps, but evidently not quite lame enough to suffer through, much less enjoy, this poopsack of a game.
