So, I knew volunteering for Obama would be a mistake. Not because I haven't helped him hopefully win big in NC, but because it would involve something I'd studiously avoided since my arrival here: interacting with the locals.
Well, one of the people I've been volunteering with is the wife of the head of the local Verizon Wireless Call Center. These are the people you call when you have an issue with your cell phone/billing/shit like that. The ones that don't speak with an Indian accent, anyway. It's a pretty big employer here in Wilmington and they recently announced plans to expand by about 30% over the next year. I've worked with this lady and her husband a little bit, he's pretty busy and can only volunteer like once a week whereas she's a bored 40 something year old woman with lots of spare time. Anyway, they both liked me a whole lot and he basically offered me the job point blank the other day while we eating dinner at the campaign office.
I know I probably SHOULD take the job, as it would pay me more than 50k a year and have great benefits. Plus I'd know my boss and I'm pretty comfortable with him. HOWEVER, I really like the ability to be lazy and not have to work for a week or two if I don't want to. Getting up at 11 and working for a couple of hours at my place is pretty much the ideal work day if you ask me. But if I take this job I can actually buy a house finally. Then again, if I take this job I won't be going back to school, which I had planned to do in the fall and can still do freelance video editing work while I'm in school.
WHAT DO I DO, EB? Note that your opinions probably won't make a difference in the end, but it's fun putting the question up to you dudes.
