It's a meh.  It's not bad or anything and it has some good bits, but it's the weakest ep this season, so far.  I hope next week's is fuck awesome.  And not lame.  Family is lame.

Yeah, none of them have been bad but it wasn't spectacular. The next episode looks really interesting. Wonder what the explanation is behind that.

Lots of spoiler speculation:

So, how about Rose Tyler on the TARDIS viewscreen? In addition to that, it seems like the entire season is building up until she boards the TARDIS again. Hopefully Rose isn't the mother. That wouldn't be too credible IMO.

This one had lots of cheese and introducing a daughter is shark territory.

If it were anything more than a one off thing, we'd know about it by now.  And from the clues given, it appears that she is some sort of daughter created out of the DNA of the Doctor's severed hand.  Also, bear in mind that when the series first started, the Doctor had a GRAND daughter, so him with kids isn't a new thing.  I forget how they retconned/explained that.

Also, the show kinda jumps the shark like once a season.  It wouldn't be Doctor Who without the unintended cringe-inducing moments.

Cheese is part of what makes Doctor Who great.

And I promise the show hasn't jumped the shark... at least not the new series.

whats this about the doctors granddaughter whiteman?

Whenever the show first came on television in the sixties, The Doctor was an old fart and he was accompanied by his granddaughter Susan Foreman (I'm assuming that they just stapled the last name on since that was the junkyard where they were originally hiding the TARDIS at the beginning of the show) and two of her schoolteachers: Barbara Wright, who was a history teacher, and Ian Chesterson, who was a science teacher. The show was originally slated to be educational, which is why those specific teachers were chosen.

The first episode (and what they call the four episode serial now) is called "An Unearthly Child" referring obviously to the fact that Susan is a Time Lord. Whether Susan was an adopted granddaughter or by relation is unknown.

Therefore, the notion of the Doctor having a daughter isn't ridiculous at all. For all we know, the Doctor has had several children. I mean, he's been alive for 900 years plus. Thirty years of television, obviously, hasn't begun to reveal all of the secrets of the Doctor.

Evidently Russell T Davies has confirmed that it is, in fact, the Doctor's daughter, not a clone or anything made from the decapitated hand.

Also, is the Doctor's daugher the mother of Susan? We will find out.

I don't think I buy that.  RTD has lied before.  If it doesn't have to do with the hand, why was there a prominent shot of the hand at the end of Saturday's episode?

I just thought of the best idea.  Being the doctor who fan base is mostly gay they should put out a doctor who hand mold, for giving yourself your own Who handjob.  I'd by 3.   4 if it's shaped exactly from Tennant's hand.

Actually:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Jenny (the titular character) tells The Doctor that she saw someone called Susan die in the Time War, which upsets him greatly.

Everyone that's seen the episode so far has ranked it the worst of the season, though, with the most frequent complaint being that it tries to cram too much into one episode and comes out muddled.  One of the other spoilers is:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Doctor doesn't need a female to spawn a daughter - he is capable of doing it all on his own.

Good point.

Also, I still have high hopes for the next episode, mainly because I'm starved for some Who awesome. Also it's being built up as this huge turning point in Doctor character development, so I'm curious to see what the hell they are going to to do him (other than give him a daughter)

BTW, the Pompeii episode is without a doubt the best episode this season so far.

Oh I know doctor who has cheese, but this felt a bet like ID4 cheese instead of Doctor Who cheese. Anyways, BRING ON MORE ALIENZ!

Well, I wouldn't worry about it.  None of the reviews indicate that the whole daughter thing is bad.  They just say that the plot of the episode is bogged down by too much crammed into an hour.  More specifically, they say, it is hard to relate to some of the characters in the episode because they didn't have enough time to develop them.

In other words, this should have been the two parter rather than the Sontaren episodes.

PS: If anyone knows where to find the older series on a Youtube clone on the internet, please post links.
