so what did sho-nuff you gents play this weekend?
« on: May 05, 2008, 04:00:01 AM »
Had a decent amount of time to play games this weekend. Still havent been bothered to play Mario KArt Wii yet - no bad feelings just on with other stuff.

- GTA IV: hah its good but hardly as great as it should have been. Its always forced to be a bit too ambitions for its technical good. They do have it as realistic as its ever been and so far the most fun. I love the TV show that makes fun of reality / celebrity shows. My first/only online experience was great...someone on my friends list invited me and I played with people I hadnt talked to in a while. The gamemodes are great and its easy to manage / accept invites in GTA IV PS3. I do like the online a bit more than Crackdown so far. I never played Saints Row nor have I gotten into many of the sandbox clones except for mercenaries.

- GTA III: Had to boot this up to check out old liberty city....its like going from Silent Hill 2 to Silent Hill PSOne.....the game is still badass except the shooting/fighting sucks so bad. Some of the timers on the missions are short and annoying - no instant restart option on the missions after "Wasted" or "busted" :( Remember the original soundtrack of GTA III? Still kills me ! The songs bring back deja-vu memories but since they are GTA only songs- you will remember stuff from when you played GTAIII years ago...

- R-types: Got this on the PSN store. No ned to play the TG16 ROM on the Wii anymore.

- R-type DELTA: <3<3<3

- R-type FINAL: Just couldnt stay out of the R-type jar... got command pre-ordered, cant sleep waiting on it, etc...

- Blazing Lasers: Wii VC is good for TG-16 shooters.

What have you ben playing besides GTA IV?

I need to get my ass back on PErsona 3 FES and my MGS trilogy speed games.

edit: this post has nothing to do with the user sho-nuff - just ended up at a friends house recently who was watching the last dragon - got it on the brain.

Musou Orochi - Just finished the Wu story mode yesterday.
Wild ARMS XF - Stuck on an optional battle where you have to move certain  monsters away from ley lines or else they're invulnerable - I dunno how to get them to move, tho.  I am seriously considering giving up on the game, it's just too frustrating.
SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 - Awesome nostalgia-fest, I definitely need to get the PSP version as well.

The only disappointing part of the disc is that several of the games have already been released in other compilations: Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, and World Heroes have all gotten other releases...and there's supposed to be a Samurai Shodown compilation disc coming soon.

I played MotoGP religiously back in 2002 and rediscovered it in the form of MotoGP 2007.  For $19.99 there's so much content.

I played GTA4 for about a minute and a half.  Yeah, it's better than San Andreas, but do I care anymore?  I'm not sure.

I played Mario Kart Wii for several hours.  After switching from the Wii-eel to the Wiimote/Nunchuck it really felt like a long lost friend.  I like the Wii-eel but the tight analog control was how MK was meant to be enjoyed.  It's hard enough dealing with all the trash MK throws at you without having to worry about dodging that banana.  With the Wii-eel I had to think, with the wiimote I didn't, I could just react.  Great game, I wish it had even more classic tracks.  I'd consider paying full price for just the SNES tracks all redone.

I also played Rock Band.  I'm a medium player on all instruments, it's pretty fun to play by yourself if you are versatile.  I didn't get in any jam sessions this weekend though, perhaps next weekend.

Yeah I cant play that much GTA4 at once. Its creepy, if you close your eyes and just listen to the noises or you close your eyes while in your car, it sounds just like all the games before it. Once you have that moment its hard to get into it since most of us never finished the other games.

Lots of Front Mission DS, I'm really liking the customization aspect in the game, and both the graphics and music are awesome.

-Galactic Civilizations 2 w/ the new expansion (the number of changes for the experienced player to adapt to is immense)

The Operational Art of War III, playing the Kharkov '42 scenario. (three or so turns a day-each turn takes like an hour to set up! Still the best grognard wargame ever.)

Quake Wars: Enemy Territory (shits all over the other released 2007 multiplayer FPS games by a huge margin)

Hearts of Iron 2 - The yin to TOAW3's yang.

I also meant to play some MGO, but the game is not too compelling at all.  I don't get the hype honestly.  MGS4 on the other hand....
