Coming to the end of Partners in Time
« on: May 06, 2008, 02:15:54 PM »
I was liking the game well enough for the first 2/3rds of it, but this closing act really kind of blows. It's just dungeon after dungeon with nothing particularly interesting going on, then you get the Ulti Free badge and the game might as well play itself.

I'm in the last dungeon now, have been for days, and it's a snoozer. The second floor here is just a giant web of rooms full of enemies, all you have to do is walk to each corner (through every room, of course) and hit some blocks. Wheeeee

They should have stuck to the formula of the first one, with the overworld n stuff.

Wasn't the prequel better?  I still haven't beat superstar saga.  I enjoyed it though.

I never did beat the final boss. I remember there being a sequence when you had to use the touch screen and if you didn't do quick enough then it was game over. My fiance had beat it and told me that the ending wasn't worth it, so I never tried to beat the boss again after I died the first time. You are right OP, the last 1/3 of the game really sucks compared to the rest of it. I still think that it is one of the DS' better RPGs.

Heh... I still didn't beat it. I didn't even activate the Huge Lasers Facing Each Other in the last dungeon yet. I just have a save at the beginning of the Castle.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is sucking all my DS time.

IT'S AWESOME!

I just did that lame shit, more lame shit to come!

Did the dungeon, it wasn't so bad after all. Last boss time, it better not be hours long like I've heard.

Mario "stories"  :-X

I was traumatized after playing Paper Mario The Thousand Years Doors and Super Paper Mario for only 2 hours each

how can a male adult revel in this?

You're the first faggy fagfag here to reference the story, actually.

I played Superstar Saga on the GBA, thought it was awesome. Incredible localization (fawful!), fast battles, completely polished game. I finished it pretty quickly, whereas with the PM games I lose interest along the way. I started both of them and haven't finished either. SuperStar Saga >>> PM afaic. I plan to play Partners in Time somewhere down to road

I played some of PiT honestly (but I sold it because the game was faulty), and if I were to rank the Mario RPG's...

Paper Mario >>> Mario & Luigi > Partners in Time > Paper Mario 2

I played so little of SMRPG that I can't comment on that.

because a gameplay system where you control a green and a red plumber and hit mushrooms on the head with cartoon hammers is oh so manly

You're a closet queer.

I've only played M&L, M&L2, and SPM. No Mario RPG or Paper Mario.

I don't really enjoy the humor all that much. Some things are worth a chuckle but then they get beaten over the head 3x before the dialog ends.
