Transferring media to PS3
« on: May 06, 2008, 06:02:01 PM »
In the past, I've always used 360 to stream music from my computer, but the Zune software magically stopped interfacing with it so I figured I'd switch over to PS3 (if only because I have a media remote for it).

It's possible to actually download your shit right to the PS3 rather than stream it right? And I don't have to rip it one CD at a time like on 360? How is this done?

Are the music/picture files organized better than they are on PSP?

Thanks for infoz

from what i read is that when you highlight the file, press triangle (or whichever one brings up the side menu in xmb) and you should be able to copy it from there.

but i wouldn't actually know since I can't get it to connect to my pc

So I'm gonna have to press triangle thousands of times? There must be a better way than that no?

When you press triangle, you will get the option to copy multiple files. So you check the ones you want to copy, and the system copies the whole batch.

Music can be organized by artist/album/most recent and so forth, and gives you the option to create playlists.

:hump

Anything special I have to do to stream after I turn on 'media server connection?' I'm gonna test this out soon but I won't be following through on it until a week or two from now when I get a new hard drive.

It says no media servers found, what software should I use on the PC side? I have XP Media Center Edition, should I just use Media Center? I suck at this.

Ok, I'm running the Media Sharing in WMP11 and PS3 never appears as a device at all, PS3's scan times out.

Actually, fuck this - I can rip files off my Zune or an external hard drive right? I'm due for a backup anyway and that'd work just as well, I don't want to stream more than once anyway.

So how do I copy over files from an external hard drive? I don't have mine with me right now.

Try turning your firewall off.

Didn't try.

There's no problem backing up an external HDD to the PS3 HDD right? That's my ultimate goal.

Ugh, PS3 only recognizes FAT32? Fuck.
